Hi,

You are dealing with several different infections.

Let's deal with the ibm00025.exe error first at startup.. 5are you sure btw that it is

Go to start > run and type: msconfig
Click the system.ini tab.
Search for [boot] and expand it.
Then search for next line under boot
here is a screenshot where exactly to look.
shell=explorer.exe ibm00025.exe
Select it and click Edit (right below)
So now you are able to edit that line.
Now delete the ibm00025.exe part in it.
DON'T delete shell=explorer.exe !!!!
So there should be only shell=explorer.exe in that line.
Then click apply and ok.

If you can't find it there, don't edit anything, but let me know. Because the smallest mistake there can cause your explorer not to load anymore, so really make sure you do it exactly as I describe!

When done, reboot.

After reboot,

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/.../search/ie.html

* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.
Make sure your Internet Explorer is closed when you click Fix Checked!

reboot once again.

Then delete next file if still present:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\dvdcap.dll

Then, Please download FixwareOut from one of the following sites:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/lonny/Fixwareout.exe
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts. If your firewall gives an alert, (because this tool will download an additional file from the internet), please don't let your firewall block it, but allow it instead.
Then you will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

Once the desktop loads please post the text that will open (report.txt) and a new Hijackthis log.

Looking much better.. Actually, your log looks clean again.

I do have some remarks though..

I notice from your log that you are running more than one different Anti-Virus programs with Auto-protect enabled. Yahoo Antivirus and Avast.
Never install more than one Antivirus and Firewall! Rather than giving you extra protection, it will decrease the reliability of it seriously!
The reason for this is that if both products have their automatic (Real-Time) protection switched on, your system may lock up due to both software products attempting to access the same file at the same time.
Also because more than one Antivirus and Firewall installed are not compatible with eachother, it can cause system performance problems and a serious system slowdown.

I would strongly advise you to only have one Anti-Virus with the Auto-Protect feature running at any one time!
If you decide to only keep one Anti-Virus installed,
you should uninstall the other(s) through the Add or Remove Programs option in Control Panel.

As an additional note..
Effective July 11, 2006, Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, and Windows Me transitioned to a non-supported status. After this date, Microsoft will no longer provide any incident support options or security updates. Existing support documents, however, will continue to be available through the Microsoft
Support Product Solution Center Web site.

Hi,

It could be a leftover as well though... So look if next entry is still present in your log and check and fix it:

O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [CAISafe] C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Antivirus\ISafe.exe

Glad I could help.

Please read my Prevention page with lots of info and tips how to prevent this in the future.
And if you want to improve speed/system performance after malware removal, take a look here.
