When audio plays on my computer it gets a distorted crackling noise sometimes almost like a cd skipping. When nothing is running the problem is not that bad, however when I open applications it gets really bad. My mobo is an asus a8rmvp with the sound card built in and 1gig of ram. I've tried installing a sound card and using different speakers and the problem persists. Anyone have any ideas??

Hi Yarr,
Have a look at Resources for Troubleshooting Sound Problems in Windows XP.
Chaos reigns within.
Reflect, repent, and reboot.
Order shall return.
