Hey. My computer at home wont start windows. After windows has loaded it will ask me ot enter my username and password which is normal but once i press ok nothin happens. The computer just stays at that screen and i dont hear the computer loading. I tried running the computer on the last known good configuration and had the same problem. Then i tried again in safe mode and had the SAME problem.

The last time the computer was running fine it had an error and a message appeared. cant remember word for word what it said but it was along the lines that lsass.exe has closed and your computer must be shut down (there was a timer counting down from 1 minute until it shuts down). well i tried to just shut it down my self but that didn't work so i just turned off the computer by holding the power button. And now its not starting. Is there a way that i can fix it???

Check the info in the link below to remove the Sasser worm:

“Every atom in your body came from a star that exploded and the atoms in your left hand probably came from a different star than your right hand. It really is the most poetic thing I know about physics...you are all stardust.”Lawrence M. Krauss

thx alot that is definately the problem. but there is still one more problem. i cant get into windows. because as soon as windows loads and asks to login in once i log it the computer kinda freezes. it doesn't exactly freeze but it wont load past that screen it just says processing but nothin else happens. i have left the computer on for hours to see if it could go past that screen. if i were to insert my windows xp cd while in DOS mode and Repair windows would i lose any files i currently have on the computer? because once i get into windows then i can remove the worm. unless yous have any other methods of getting into windows. i tried in safe mode and last know good configuration and had the same problem.

"What to Do When XP or 2000 Won't Boot".
"How to install and use the Windows XP Recovery Console"

If your still having problems, read "How to perform a Repair Install" and "How to perform an in-place upgrade (reinstallation/repair install) of Windows XP" by Microsoft.
