I attempted to remove Anti-vermins from a computer and when I shut it down and tried to restart it in safe mode, I received the following error:
windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: windows\system32\config\system

I put in the windows XP disk and tried to run the recovery option and it keeps saying: please insert the windows XP disk with SP2 in disk drive A. I don't have an SP2 disk.

When I then attempt to reload windows XP it gives me the following error:
Set up did not find any hard disk drives installed on your computer.

The hard drive is partitioned and I'm sure that's why it's not being read. How do I work these issues out? It's not my computer, it belongs to a co-worker I was trying to help out. It's a Compaq Pesario with XP home.

Thank you,

AC
