Download and install APM from: http://www.diamondcs.com.au/index.php?page=apm

Close all windows except HijackThis and fix the lines above.

In the upper window select explorer.exe
In the lower window find and right-click the file, C:\WINDOWS\System32\fpp.dll

Select Unload DLL and click OK on the prompts that follow.

Then I want you to fix some of those entries. Please do the following:

Please make sure that you can view all hidden files. Instructions on how to do this can be found here:

How to see hidden files in Windows

Run Hijackthis again, click scan, and Put a checkmark next to each of these. Then click the Fix button

Please have hijackthis fix these:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = C:\WINDOWS\secure.html
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = C:\WINDOWS\secure.html
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = C:\WINDOWS\secure.html
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = C:\WINDOWS\secure.html
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = C:\WINDOWS\secure.html
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = C:\WINDOWS\secure.html
O16 - DPF: {9EB320CE-BE1D-4304-A081-4B4665414BEF} - http://www.mt-download.com/MediaTicketsInstaller.cab

Reboot into safe mode and delete the following:

C:\WINDOWS\secure.html

To get rid of the desktop do this:

I have used the above info to fix this problem for a friend and the last peice in the puzzle is as follows:

Open control panel then display properties.
Choose the 'Desktop' tab and press the 'customize desktop' button at the bottom.
Select the 'Web' tab and shown in the 'Web pages' box there should be a tick box next to the word 'Lock'
Unselect the tick box next to lock
Also unselect web page if it is selected.

Press 'OK' and 'OK' and all should be back to normal!

WEll the desktop part of it is fixed. I deleted the secure.html but it keeps coming back. ONce I open up IE explorer c:/windows?secure.html is my start page and when I try to go to another page a porn ad pops up taking up the whole screen and I have to hit Alt F4 to close it and then it allows me to go to the site that I want. Any way of fixing that? I fix the entries on hijackthis, but they keep coming back

Grinler is currently away for a few days, so I'll lend a hand. :D

Right now, you are not showing all the signs of a full blown infection. More correctly stated, there should be an 02 entry eith a random named .dll. If you had just tried to fix things before you came here, then the .dll is currently masked, and won't show up for a couple of reboots.

On the upside, Pandascan's newest version supposedly removes this version, but I haven't been able to verify it yet. Would you give it a shot and post back with your results?
Here is the link... *PandaSoft

You have to have javascript enabled, and be using IE for it to work, and since you have this infection in the first place, I am assuming you are using IE.

Post a new log after you are done, and we'll see if that .dll shows up. :D

You can download and install Mozilla Firefox and try to run Panda with that. Should work then.

Another method that may do it now is this:

Fix these with hijackthis:
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = C:\WINDOWS\secure.html
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = C:\WINDOWS\secure.html
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = C:\WINDOWS\secure.html
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = C:\WINDOWS\secure.html
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = localhost
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = C:\WINDOWS\secure.html
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = C:\WINDOWS\secure.html
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,HomeOldSP = about:blank

Then run adaware, please update it first, and remove all that it finds. Then reboot and post a new log
