Hi sunny-d and welcome to the Forums :flowers:

I can't see any visible signs of malware in your log...

Go to Start >Run and type "Notepad" without the quotes
Copy the text from the quotebox to Notepad.
Go to the menu at the top of the Notepad file and Save as:
  • Name the file peek.bat
  • Save as Type: All files
  • Select the desktop icon on the left to save it on the desktop.
Double click on peek.bat and let it run.
When finished it will open a file in Notepad.
That file will be named startup.txt
Please post the contents of startup.txt into your next reply here.

if not exist Files MkDir Files

regedit /e peek1.txt "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupreg"
regedit /e peek2.txt "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupfolder"
type peek1.txt >> startup.txt
type peek2.txt >> startup.txt
del peek*.txt
start notepad startup.txt

Copy files\*.txt = startup.txt
rmdir /s /q files
Start Notepad startup.txt

Please do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner

Click on Kaspersky Online Scanner

You will be promted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
  • The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:

  • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
  • Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
    • Now click on the Save as Text button:
  • Save the file to your desktop.
  • Copy and paste that information in your next post.

Hi again :flowers:

There were a few infections but those were located under the system restore folder which can easily be cleaned.

What program located these trojans and what were the locations ?
When was the last time you defragged your harddrives ?

We'll do some cleaning:

Download ATF Cleaner by Atribune to your desktop.
Do NOT run yet.

Run ATF Cleaner Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
If you use Firefox browserClick Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
If you use Opera browserClick Opera at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Let me know

Mr Jak,

I have a trojan horse that is in the AVG virus vault.
It is called Trojan Horse Generic.XDR
Location is:

C\:System Volume
Information\_restore{7D9369AD-EAA34F88-ADA7-EF8BB9A3D639}\RP358\A0037488.dll

The kapersky scan shows all the information for the location of the viruses.

thanks

Ok good, that is easily cleaned.
  • Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, click System Tools, and then click System Restore.
  • Click to add a check mark beside Turn off System Restore on all Drives, and click Apply.
  • When you are warned that all existing Restore Points will be deleted, click Yes to continue.
Restart your computer normally.
Then we'll enable system restore again.
  • Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, click System Tools, and then click System Restore.
  • Uncheck beside Turn off System Restore on all Drives, and click Apply.
  • Close the window
When you're ready, run a new scan with AVG and let me know if it finds anything

Mr Jak,

Ran AVG Anti-Virus Scan and AVG Anti-Spyware scan. The Anti-Virus found nothing. The Anti-Spy found multiple tracking cookies.

I followed the steps for the system restore function.

Thanks,

SD

  • Use Ad-Aware
Download and install Ad-Aware. Update it and scan your computer regularly with it.
  • Use AVG Anti-Spyware
Update it and scan your computer regularly with it.
  • Use Spybot S&D
Download and install Spybot S&D. Update it and scan your computer regularly with it.
  • Install SpywareBlaster
SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed.
  • Install MVPS Hosts file
This prevents your computer from connecting to harmful sites.
  • Use Firefox browser
Firefox is faster, safer and better browser than Internet Explorer.
  • Keep your systen up-to-date
    Visit Windows Update regularly.
  • Keep your antivirus and firewall up-to-date
Scan your computer regularly with your antivirus.
  • Read this article by TonyKlein
So how did I get infected in the first place?
  • Stand Up and Be Counted !
The site offers people who have been (or are) victims of malware the opportunity to document their story and, in that way, launch a complaint against the malware and the makers of the malware.
Stay clean and be safe ;)
