After installing SP2 on a Windows XP Home Edition PC, I lost function of my DVD and CDRW drives. I removed SP2 thru Add/Remove and uninstalled drivers thru Device Manager, but nothing helps. Would really appreciate any advice?

Hello and welcome to BC bulldawg1979

Instead of reinstalling the drivers, have you tried the "roll back driver" feature. I have heard of some success with one method and not the other.

Have you gone to the manufacturers website to install current drivers there? I would be more then happy to help find it, if you post your make/model of your computer.

What JEservices said.

I had problems with the Nvidia IDE/Atapi driver from the Nvidia 5.10 driver set.

Rolling back to the standard Windows IDE/Atapi controller cured the problem.

Hope this helps!
