 Hi. I've done all the steps Grinler posted to do before posting this. Too much water has gone under the bridge to figure what's wrong. What is wrong is now when I boot up I get a screen saying that Windows was not properly shut down and it gives me options to start in SAFE, LAST KNOWN NORMAL CONFIGURATION START UP OR, NORMAL START-UP. I click NORMAL. Then it runs at a snails pace to start up. Once it's up and running it takes a long time to load when I click "My Computer". HELP!!!

Hello phil7 and welcome to the BC HijackThis forum. I see no signs of viruses or malware in the log. It is clean.

If the system shuts down properly and you are getting that message each time it boots up then it could very well be that the registry (or a portion of it) is corrupted and the data is not getting written properly at shutdown. A couple of things you can try:

- Choose the Last Known Good Configuration option to see if it can write out a good registry configuration.

- do a System Restore from a restore point prior to when this started happening.

If neither of those options work then I would suggest posting in the XP forum here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/56/windows-xp-home-and-professional/ . They can assist with non-malware related XP system issues. Let them know that you have been to this forum and that no malware was found.

Cheers.
