I have zero idea what happened. I went through the list of stuff the Microsoft boys suggest on their site, to no avail.

Basically, every time I try to execute an installable .msi, it says the path to the msi on the first line. Below that, it says "Access is denied." I did everything, barring contacting their support boys.

Blah. All I want to do is install Python. I even downloaded another msi for another program and tried to run it, but that didn't work. If there is any other information I can give, just ask. This is driving me insane.

Are you using an account with administrator privileges?

Is this happening when working with a drive that had another copy of XP installed on it?

Have you scanned for viruses and spyware?

BTFOM (Beats The F*** Outta Me)! Seriously, I'm just shooting blanks here, hoping to stumble upon the fix.

Try this free utility to reregister the dll's associated with the Windows Installer: http://wiki.djlizard.net/Dial-a-fix#Standard_version

Sigh... I think that's one of the thing I've tried. Trying it again if it'll load for me.

I THINK it COULD be a problem with the damned extension itself. Basically, I've installed all kinds of things, just none of them a downloaded program with a MSI extension. But I have no idea how to fix that...
