This is the same for XP Home or Pro if the PC was made after 2003.

HP Media Center PCs - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Where can I get recovery CDs?

HP Media Center computers that ship with Windows XP do not come with recovery CDs. Instead, they use a hidden space (partition) on the hard drive to store the recovery information. Using a hidden partition provides a more convenient, more stable recovery process that eliminates the need for CDs that can be scratched or lost.

A set of recovery discs can be made by using the HP Recovery Disc Creator software. Click Start, All Programs, Hewlett-Packard, HP Pavilion PC Tools, and then HP PC Recovery CD Creator. For more information about creating recovery discs, use HP Desktop PCs - Creating Recovery CDs Using HP's Recovery CD Creator .

If you still feel that you would like to order recovery discs, contact HP .
