Hello, I've been registered to these forums for who knows how long. :thumbsup:

Just recently, I've had a recurring problem with my computer. Every 10-15 minutes, everything would just stop responding, no mouse, no keyboard. I'm pretty sure this isn't a hardware problem because my heatsink seems to be alright and my CPU temperature is normal. Also, the laptop I have is relatively new. I have tried defragging, spyware scan, registry cleaning, etc. Here are my computer specs and a HijackThis log if it will help any:

Intel Centrino Duo Core Processers
Windows XP Home Edition
1Gig RAM
60GB HDD
Integrated Graphics Card

Please download LspFix from here: http://cexx.org/lspfix.htm
Place it in its own folder.
You probably will not need it, but go ahead and download it just in case you lose Internet access during the NewDotNet uninstall.

Now go to Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs
On the list of Currently Installed Programs, look for and, if found, uninstall the following by selecting the entry and clicking on Remove:
NewDotNet

Next, search for and delete the following folders (bold):
C:\Program Files\NewDotNet

If NewDotNet is not found in Add or Remove Programs, go here: http://www.newdotnet.com/removal.html
Scroll to the bottom of the page to Procedure 4 and then download and run the New.Net removal tool.

Restart the computer.

Only (probably will not happen at all), if you lose your Internet connection after running the NewDotNet removal tool, then, do the following:
-Unzip and run LSPFix
-Disconnect from the Internet and close all Internet Explorer Windows
-Check: 'I know what I'm doing'
-Select all traces of: NewDotNet
-Click the right-pointing arrows and move all instances of NewDotNet (nothing else) to the Remove pane
-Click the 'Finished' button
-Restart the computer

~~~~
Next, download AVG Anti-Spyware:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
Locate the icon on the Desktop and double-click it to launch the program.
Now, update the definition files:
On the main screen select Update, and then select the Update Now link.
Next, select the Start Update button
(The update starts and a progress bar shows the updates installed.)
Once the update completes select: Scanner (the top of the screen)
Select the Settings tab
Once in the Settings screen click on: Recommended actions
Select: Quarantine
Under: Reports, select: Automatically generate report after every scan
Un-Select: Only if threats were found
Close AVG AS for now.
~~~~
Run HijackThis, Scan
Check box for:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {41D68ED8-4CFF-4115-88A6-6EBB8AF19000} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: URLLink - {4A2AACF3-ADF6-11D5-98A9-00E018981B9E} - C:\Program Files\NewDotNet\newdotnet7_22.dll
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {598F4775-6FB6-477B-9842-E0426824E077} - (no file)

O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {BA52B914-B692-46c4-B683-905236F6F655} - (no file)

Select: Fix checked

~~~~
Now, reboot to Safe Mode :
-Restart your computer.
-When the machine first starts again, tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with a Windows XP Advanced Options menu.
-Select the option for Safe Mode using the arrow keys.
-Press Enter to boot into Safe Mode.
~~~~
Then, go to Start > Control Panel > Internet Options
In the General tab under: Temporary Internet Files, click: Delete Cookies
Under: Temporary Internet Files, also click: Delete Files
Place a check by: Delete Offline Content when the prompt appears
Click OK.

Next, go to Start > Run and enter: cleanmgr
Click: OK
Select the drive to clean: C:\
Check the following boxes and then press OK to remove:
Temporary Files
Temporary Internet Files
Recycle Bin

Agree to the prompt to perform the action...

~~~~
Still in Safe Mode, launch AVG AS
Select: Scanner (at the top)
Select the Scan tab
Click on: Complete System Scan
AVG AS begins the scanning process, and it may take a while.
Please do not open any other windows or programs while AVG AS is scanning, it may interfere with the scanning process!!
Once the scan is complete, AVG AS lists any infections found.
It also automatically sets the recommended action.
Click: Apply all actions
AVG will then display: All actions have been applied
Next select: Reports (at the top)
Select: Save report as (lower left of the screen)
Save the report to a text file in a location where you can find it!
Close AVG AS.
~~~~
Restart the computer.

~~~~
Please provide the following:
Thanks, I'm doing what you said right now. By the way, I did a few more spyware scans and found 3 viruses.
I'll report back to you with results.
Here are results:
EDIT: This was from a quick scan. I got like 20 Trojans from a full scan. Sorry, didn't save report. I remember an IRC backdoor (don't worry, no important information on my computer)
I also installed a synaptics pointing driver because my logitech mouse had it's own software and I suspect it overwrote the drivers.
Here are my errors in Event Manager if they will help:
Please run an AVG AS Complete System Scan, and this time post the results of the scan in your reply.
~~~~
Also, please download SuperAntiSpyware Home Edition Free Version
http://www.superantispyware.com/downloadfi...ANTISPYWAREFREE
Install the program

Run SuperAntiSpyware and click: Check for updates
Once the update is finished, on the main screen, click: Scan your computer
Check: Perform Complete Scan
Click Next to start the scan.

Superantispyware scans the computer, and when finished, lists all the infections found.
Make sure everything found has a check next to it, and press: Next
Click Finish

It is possible that the program asks to reboot in order to delete some files.

Please obtain the SuperAntiSpyware log as follows:
Click: Preferences
Click the Statistics/Logs tab
Under Scanner Logs, double-click SuperAntiSpyware Scan Log
It opens in your default text editor (such as Notepad)

Please copy the information in the SuperAntiSpyware log and post in your reply.
