Hi and thank you in advance for any help i receive on this matter :thumbsup:

Unfortunately my system obtained a virus or two, approximately a fortnight ago somehow - till not im not sure how this occured but i know the first signs of problems was when the system alerted my father, who was using my system, to a virus known as 'Trojan Horse Lop.As'

Since then i have run tests and described in your topic thread, using:

* Ad-Aware SE
* Spybot Search & Destroy
* AVG Anti-Spyware
* AVG Anti-Virus
* Avert Stinger

during these processes i found:

Trojan Horse Lop.As (i also got made aware of this via popups regularly from AVG Anti-Virus)
Downloader.PurityScan.dy
Trojan.small

and a few others

Even after running the above processes, they unfortunately all manage to resurface somehow and re-download themselves...

Here is my HiJackThis Log:

Hello Julian23 and Welcome to BleepingComputer!

I am logreeval and will be helping you clean your computer :thumbsup:

Just a few things I want you to do before we begin the fix :flowers:

You are currently using HijackThis from a temporary directory, this can cause problems.
HijackThis creates backups, these are needed in case of any recovery issues.
Please create a directory on your C:\ drive called C:\HJT, download and unzip HijackThis into that directory. Run the program from that directory from now on.

STEPS For Creating Folder
1. Please go to My Computer, open your C:\ drive, Select: New >> Folder and name the folder HJT.

2. Download HijackThis to the new folder:

3. Double Click on 'HijackThis.zip' to extract and install HijackThis.exe to the new folder.

4. Close ALL windows except HJT

5. SCAN with HJT and SAVE LOG. (a notepad window will open with the log in it when you click Save Log) (Ctrl-A to'select all', Ctrl-C to 'copy')

6. POST the log in this thread using 'Add Reply' (Ctrl-V to 'paste')
Please make sure you post the entire log including the top portion:

DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES OR CLICK "FIX CHECKED" UNTIL WE CHECK THE LOG, AS SOME OF THE FILES ARE LEGIT AND VITAL TO THE FUNCTION OF YOUR COMPUTER

====================

Open HijackThis, click Config, click Misc Tools
Click "Open Uninstall Manager"
Click "Save List" (generates uninstall_list.txt)
Click Save, copy and paste the results in your next post.

====================

Next reply:
1)HijackThis log
2)Uninstall list

====================

Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version of Java components and upgrade the application. Beware it is NOT supported for use in 9x or ME and probably will not install in those systems

Ugrading Java:
  • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6.
  • Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
  • The page will refresh.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel, double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java version.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on the download to install the newest version.
====================

When done, post a fresh HijackThis log please :thumbsup:
