Won't Shut Down?

I rarely shut down, but my desktop with XP Pro will not shut down. It just cycles back like I clicked on restart. I have to catch it just right and power off to keep from causing a disk check when rebooting the next time. I looked for this in other posts but was surprised that I did not see this specific issue. Thanks.

Thanks again very much. I looked at this earlier this week and did not follow through. I also know now to make a log if (ha!) , when this or something like it happens again. You have been a great help. gracias
