When I tried to recover my Windows XP files, I got this pop-up message after recovering and restarting my computer:

(in the installation window)

" The file "asms" on Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 1 CD is needed.
Type the path where the file is located, and then click OK.

Copy files from:
GLOBALROOT\DEVICE\CDROOM0\l386 "

The problem is that I CAN'T click OK because neither my mouse or the keyboard is working at that part of the installation... What do I do? How can I press "OK"?

PLEASE HELP!

What are you using, wireless mouse and keyboard?

If so you may have to use a more generic keyboard and mouse to install xp, then switch back once done.

Is this an original XP hologram disk or a burned copy? Look to see if the disk has an Asms folder on it.

I tried changing my mouse and a keyboard, but it still doesn't work.

I tried pressing Caps Lock on and off to see if the light on the keyboard will be flashing, but it froze right after the Windows loading screen.

How do I know if my hard disk was "formatted with FAT or FAT32 file system" or "with NTFS file system"?

I still can't get my mouse/keyboard to work and on the second step of this website, http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=311755, it doesn't allow me to copy this thing " cd-rom:\tools\oldmsdos\xcopy*.* "
