Hello all
I recently installed PC mighty max on my windows xp pro computer. It told me I had over 600 registry problems and sent me to there site to purchase the program. I tried to click out of it as I was not interested in buying the program, and that is when all crapola hit my pc. It seems all my .exe are corrupted and I cannot get into add/remove to delete this file (pc mighty max) I cannot use the downloads or any virus programs on my computer either. I have tried to use safe mode to use the start...search feature but it will not work either..any ideas on how to get this program off of my computer? I am really getting frustrated!!
Thanks

Welcome to BC ohboy

I'm sorry about the difficulties you are having. I suggest you follow the directions in this guide. Then create an HJT log, you will find the directions in the guide.

Create a new topic in this forum, not here and give it a good descriptive title. Briefly summarize what the problems are, what you have done to try to solve it, and what worked and didn't work and paste in your HJT log.

After you post your log, DO NOT make any further changes to your computer: deleting files, editing the registry, using special fix tools, installing or uninstalling software etc. as this will make it more difficult for the HJT team to help you.

Please be patient as the HJT team is very busy. DO NOT bump your log as the team may think that someone is already helping you. If you have not had a response in five days, add a response to the five days no response topic and paste in the link to your thread.

Help us help you. If HelpBot replies, you MUST follow step 1 in its reply so we know you need help.

PC MightyMax = Rogue Security Program

...purports to scan and detect malware or other problems on the computer, but which attempts to dupe or badger users into purchasing the program by presenting the user with intrusive, deceptive warnings and/or false, misleading scan results. Rogue Security Programs typically use aggressive, deceptive advertising and may be installed without adequate notice and consent, often through exploits...

If you cannot get HijackThis to run because .exe files are not working properly, then try renaming it. Open the HijackThis Folder, find the HijackThis.exe file, right click on the file and select rename. Type HijackThis.bat and hit "Enter". Double-click on HijackThis.bat (which is still hijackthis) to run the program. Any of the following extensions should work as well: .com, .pif, or .scr.

Post your log in the HijackThis Logs and Analysis Forum, NOT here, for assistance by the HJT Team Experts. A member of the Team will walk you through, step by step, on how to clean your computer. If you post your log back in this thread, the response from the HJT Team will be delayed because your post will have to be moved. This means it will fall in line behind any others posted that same day.
