Have an entry in my System Startup summary called sayaneger.exe, no-one else I have checked with has this entry, searches on the web yield a very few (French) pages which my inadequate command of the language seems to suggest some sort of deeply buried malware and finally searches of various virus/malware encyclopedias and indeed your fine forum yields nothing. Does anyone know what sayaneger.exe is? Is it harmful? Spyware Doctor, Spybot and my anti-virus ignore it completely.

Any info would be much appreciated

Jeff

Prevx1 is free to try but costs $24.95 for a 12 month license. So you may want to try something else before using it. I responded in your other thread here with some suggestions.

Out of curiosity, I looked a little further and here is some info:

Malware Family: Part of Malware group - Covert Sys Exec

http://www.greatis.com/appdata/d/s/shchostv.exe_Removal.htm

SHCHOSTV.EXE - Dangerous

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

shchostv.exe
SHCHOSTV.EXE is Trojan/Backdoor Covert.Sys.Exec Spyware.
Read more... Removal instructions...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You could try to find these files using Regrun Reanimator 5.0 (Free tool) if Prevx doesn' remove it.
shchostv.exe
SHCHOSTV.EXE is Trojan/Backdoor Covert.Sys.Exec Spyware.
Kill the process SHCHOSTV.EXE and remove SHCHOSTV.EXE from Windows startup using RegRun Reanimator.
