Athlon 64 3400+
Winows XP

Problem seemed to begin after trying to do a System Restore when some ISP software slowed my machine right down. The system restore failed several times and then I got the above message when trying to reboot. Everything then seems to work ok but gets very slow intermitantly.

Full message reads, RAID none define > none RAID > FDC failure...

I should point out that I received a message when first trying to System Restore that pointed out that my removable HDD had been removed and some things may not be restored correctly???

Thanks for your time. Any help much appreciated.

Are you using RAID? If not, go into the BIOS and disable the RAID controller (but make sure you don't disable SATA if you're using SATA drives).
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.

Not sure what RAID is! Have never noticed it before so I assume not. Have gone into BIOS but can't see a RAID controller to disable. Did look in boot sequence and saw the following
1st boot sequence CD/DVD...
2nd Disabled
3rd BBS-0 (RAID) Maxtor 6B2 00M0
4th same as 3rd
Don't know if this is relevant?
Did set up BIOS defaults but with no change.

So how do I get to RAID controller?

Thanks for the help.

I'm unsure. What's the make and model of your system? We'll use that to look up the specs on the system and see if we can get some clarification.

The issue is that some systems look at SATA drives and drivers as being similar to RAID - so just shutting off the RAID may cause your system not to boot.
