With regards to my previous post re: mdm virus, I am thinking that it might have to do with the fact that my windows defender expired on 31/12/06.

Having contacted the person that set my pc up, I now have found out that the windows XP pro was not in fact genuine, so I am left floundering in unknown technology. This person does not have a genuine copy of windows. Is there any way of getting this without having to pay the rather exorbitant price?

Because of this, I cannot update win defender. I have searched the forum on this topic and tried many of the suggestions, but without any luck.

Is there perhaps another programme that i can use in place of Win Defender?

And does anyone think that this lack of Defender is causing all the problems mentioned in previous posts??
e.g - "cannot connect to server..." Outlook Express "can't connect to incoming POP3 error code ox80042108

Win defender error code ox800106ba .

Any and all help would be very much appreciated.

Happy New Year to you all.

Many thanks

Outlook problem

Defender Problem
This is only a temporary solution. Without SP2 on your PC you are very much vulnarable to be infected. If defender is not working anymore, check the download links in my sig for :

AVG Antivirus/Zone Alarm/AVG Anti Spyware/Spybot/Adaware and Ccleaner which gives you protection at 0 costs
