is there any way to use a 5.5" external enclosure for an internal dvd rw drive? are they compatible? thanks. i don't have a drive or an enclosure yet, i'm just starting to shop around for them. thanks

Yes, but the problem will be in the interface (and transitioning from IDE to USB)
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.

I have used this product for USB 2.0 to IDE conversion with disk drives:It should also work with DVD/RW drives.
