Hi, I have read all I can on this forum to try to get my old good printer to print,( Lexmark Z705 after disconnecting it when I went from DSL to cable. My computer HP Media Center no long will read that there is a printer. The computer said "no printer can be found". I have tried to reinstall with the disk and even got another one (HP1210xi) to try yet it is the same problem... another says RPC failed, yet it also is started. I hope this makes sense.

Try this:

a. uninstall the printer software
b. Go to Device Manager and delete it there if you see it.
c. Go to Start>Control Panel>Printers and Faxes> and if you see the printer listed there, delete it.
d. Reboot.

You may also need to do a registry cleaning. Download the FREE cleaner below.

Eusing Registry Cleaner

Eusing registry cleaner is a fast and FREE, and most importantly, very good at cleaning out bad registry entries. Even if you use other registry cleaners, you should definitely add this one to your list.

I cleaned the registry, and deleted the printer which nolonger exists. When I try to install the software a window comes up which says "print spooler is not running" . I keep checking these and make sure they are started, the print spooler, the RPC and tfinally the USB conntection. they usually are started. I just can't find the problem.

Hi, I called my son long distance and he again told me to do a system restore. It worked. I had not had a disk but he said the xp didn't require one. So after a long frustrating experience I am printing again.

Glad to know you're printing again.
