That is caused by some of the formatting not loading into the page by most likely, intermittently losing connection to the server.

It's happened to me on numerous occasions, not only here, but on other sites too. The only thing I know to do that works is to simply hit Refresh until it loads all the formatting.

I don't believe there is a "fix" to it, as it's most likely hard to say the real cause is. It may also have to do MySQL or PHP or related programs..... but I still say it's a connection/timeout problem.

Hi Fozzie

That view you show is what is called the "Lo-Fi Version".
It appears that it occurred at the time of the BC outage according to your ImageShack pix.

(If you look at the bottom of any BC page in the middle, you should see a toggle for Lo-Fi Version.)

I'm not KoanYorel, so I'll wait for his reply. Just in case it's the same as what I was going to say as one possible reason.

TMack,

The Lo-Fi Version seems to be for a person that may not want to see all the buttons and images while browsing. The Lo-Fi Version will load the pages quicker. And it also takes away the left side of of a post, eliminating avatars, and other info, which will load the pages faster, especially if someone has an avatar that takes quite some time to load, and they have many replies on that one thread/topic.

I also notice that there are no reply buttons, edit, or other buttons, which would probably be good for people that are just viewing the site, but aren't registered yet... I'm guessing.

Thanx for the info Walkman. Makes sense, and perhaps makes for easier printing.

I have noticed in Google, you have the choice of viewing a BC link in Lo-Fi Version or Regular Version.

Okay Animal,on the chance that KoanYorel is ringing in the New Year, what are your thoughts?

TMack: WalkMan fairly well covered the aspects of the Lo-Fi, which is basically just the text of a web page with very simple formatting.
Individuals with smaller computer systems or on very slow dial up access often prefer the Lo-Fi format.
It's actually the original format of pages from years past.
Newer software and upgrades have added all the other bells and whistles you see now.
(Watch for the BC to again upgrade in the near future.)

Fozzie: You say all is well now? What did you do to clear things up?
Clear cache perhaps, or ?

TMacK,

Koan and Walkman covered everything I would have said

We are all the BleepingComputer(ans) here.

I learn so much from all of you, I'm always glad to pitch in when I can. You're ALL family to me.

I can't help it,, (well, I could) but I just love this site. It has made a difference in my life, personally and (computerly -- may not be in the dictionary.... yet), but this is the place to be. You simply learn things here. I love to learn.

It's ALL good here. I personally vouch for that too.

To KoanYorel,
I hope you didn't mind, even though a question was directed to you. I just wanted to help out, just incase you were somehow unable to reply. I'll always do my best to reply to posts with respectful/legitimate replies from myself. And I'll do that for any poster. But not if they ask you a personal question in the public.

Actually not. The weird look came after I did a run with Ccleaner, and it returned suddenly. So don't have a clou actually

Happy new year all
