You are running 2 active AV's - Trend and AVG - remove one - only one active AV should be on a system

You may want to print this or save it to notepad as we will go to safe mode.

Fix these with HiJackThis – mark them, close IE, click fix checked

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [qvclpnjglzwcf] C:\WINDOWS\System32\vojomi.exe

DownLoad http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.zip or
http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/killbox.exe

Restart your computer into safe mode now. (Tapping F8 at the first black screen) Perform the following steps in safe mode:

Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. Now put a tick by Standard File Kill. In the "Full Path of File to Delete" box, copy and paste each of the following lines one at a time then click on the button that has the red circle with the X in the middle after you enter each file. It will ask for confimation to delete the file. Click Yes. Continue with that same procedure until you have copied and pasted all of these in the "Paste Full Path of File to Delete" box.

C:\WINDOWS\System32\vojomi.exe

Note: It is possible that Killbox will tell you that one or more files do not exist. If that happens, just continue on with all the files. Be sure you don't miss any.

START – RUN – type in %temp% - OK - Edit – Select all – File – Delete

Delete everything in the C:\Windows\Temp folder or C:\WINNT\temp

Not all temp files will delete and that is normal
Empty the recycle bin
Boot

Download Superantispyware

http://www.superantispyware.com/superantis...efreevspro.html

Install it and double-click the icon on your desktop to run it.
· It will ask if you want to update the program definitions, click Yes.
· Under Configuration and Preferences, click the Preferences button.
· Click the Scanning Control tab.
· Under Scanner Options make sure the following are checked:
o Close browsers before scanning
o Scan for tracking cookies
o Terminate memory threats before quarantining.
o Please leave the others unchecked.
o Click the Close button to leave the control center screen.
· On the main screen, under Scan for Harmful Software click Scan your computer.
· On the left check C:\Fixed Drive.
· On the right, under Complete Scan, choose Perform Complete Scan.
· Click Next to start the scan. Please be patient while it scans your computer.
· After the scan is complete a summary box will appear. Click OK.
· Make sure everything in the white box has a check next to it, then click Next.
· It will quarantine what it found and if it asks if you want to reboot, click Yes.
· To retrieve the removal information for me please do the following:
o After reboot, double-click the SUPERAntispyware icon on your desktop.
o Click Preferences. Click the Statistics/Logs tab.
o Under Scanner Logs, double-click SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log.
o It will open in your default text editor (such as Notepad/Wordpad).
o Please highlight everything in the notepad, then right-click and choose copy.
· Click close and close again to exit the program.
· Please paste that information here for me with a new HijackThis log.

Please give feedback on what worked/didn’t work and the current status of your system

Hi MFDnSC,
Have performed all actions as instructed, except for 2 AV's.
The SuperAntispyware log is pasted below. It took 1hr 44 min and I noticed several hidden folder and file that were scanned.
Tried to Delete Trend Micro folder but it will not permit deletion of PCClient.exe. Could not find any Uninstall file. The program however is disabled. Please adivise how to get rid of it.
Thanks

You must remove one of the AV's - it will slow things down and give false positives

It should be remove via add remove programs

Post a new hijack log

Hello Mfchc,
Since the last session, at least 5 attempts to startup have ended with the system "falling over" in different circumstances.
Initially it gave impression of being some sort of video problem. The monitor screen goes black and the monitor switches off, similar to the power management feature. Cntrl-Alt-Del and reset buttons are inoperative. Have to resort to pulling the plug. (Which to me points to "hang" on endless loop)

The next attempt to switch on had no display at all with the monitor going into power saving mode, even though all power options are set to "Never". A message would flash saying : No Signal Output or Cable disconnected.
Testing with another older monitor also had no display with monitor switching to power saving mode (amber light)

Another startup attempt after a few hours got past the Windows splash screen and login, but as the desktop icons appeared a "svchost.exe Application error" appeared:
The instruction at 0x7c911F6e referred memort at '0x00000004'.The memory could not be "read" Click on Ok to terminate the prograkm. OK button.

A few seconds later while trying to enter message in Notepad the cursor froze and monitor went black and the green "ON" lamp clicked to amber.

Now using notebook to write this note and go online.
Would you consider this to be a video driver issue? A few weeks ago had tried to get the latest Nvidia driver but no joy. Then long period without any problem which seemed to indicate that was not the cause.

Wish that somehow one could monitor all processes and applications starting up to see exactly what is going on and determine the culprit. Have tried to look at Event log but not clear which program could be causing the problem.
Would you agree that the symptoms now point to a graphics card failure?

Hi MFDnSC,

If it is a video card failure, I cannot fathom why the 'freeze' only occurs in the first few minutes after startup. Since the incidents in the previous email, have had another session for 2 hours and now am using it normally even though the screen did go blank a few times as I began to log in and check emails.

Is the Hijack log all clear now? How do I ensure it remains that way?
You advice much appreciated,

Is it a card or on board the mobo - if its a card pull it out and re-seat it

Log looks fine

Hi MFDnSC,
SUCCESS !!! Removed the video card, dusted off and reseated and no hiccups on startup this time.
Hopefully it stays this way. Thanks for walking me thro the problem.
