Hi all,
I got new bluetooth keyboard n mouse for christmas . Went install it yesterday, all was going fine. I'd switched off tea timer before installing. It prompted me to reboot so i did, assuming it was done installing, i didnt bother to stop spybot tea timer from booting at start-up. However, it did and the imstall program came back and bacause i was installing keyboard n mouse, they were unavailable until it was finished, during this time spybot tea timer kicked in blocking registry entries and i couldnt tell it to allow them so it timed out and blocked the entries. So at that point i had no keboard n mouse. I unplugged the new ones, put the old ones back in and rebooted to undo what id done and start again, but now my pc wont boot into windows. It goes through the inial screen but where it should go to the logon screen it freezes on a black screen and wont go further. This happens when i try to go to last know good config setting too. When i try safe mode, it goes to lad stuff from sys 32/ drivers i think, and gets stuck at the same place each time. I cannot find my repair disk, and suspect ive lost it during my most recent move. Is there anything i can do? Please help!!!
I also asked for help at g2go but havent had much luck. see it here.

Often computers that won't boot into real or safe modes will boot into safe mode with a command prompt. If yours will:

Type the following command at a command prompt, and then press ENTER:

%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe

Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to restore your computer to an earlier state.

More info can be found HERE.

Thats like a system restore made in CMD. But if your unlucky like me, ur System has issues with rollbacks.. if this doesnt work. you can get a new disc for free from Microsoft, if you can prove you had one before.

Have you tried Safe mode with a command prompt? This is different than safe mode.

You'll have to load the Recovery Console and try to fix it from there. I'm not real conversant with this approach - so I'll leave it to others to provide suggestions.

Other options are:
1) A repair install of XP (this will leave your data and programs intact): http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

2) Or a clean install of XP, which will wipe your hard drive clean (and will remove your added programs and data).
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
