First off, thank you for looking at this post.
Second off, I'm posting from another computer as mine will not start.

Currently it's giving me 6 error messages, 3 of which say

"winlogon.exe - corrupt file
the file or directory C:\windows\system32 is corrupt and unreadable. Please run Chkdsk utility."

and 2 of which say

"winlogon.exe - unable to locate component
the application has failed to start because SHELL32.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."

which is then followed by a reboot and then it repeats.
It suggests I run chkdsk however, I cannot reach my desktop, much less a command prompt. I have also tried in safe mode, same result. Do I need to wipe my hard drive or can this be fixed? Thank you for your time.

Take a look here. I have done this and it keeps your files and data and reinstalls critical system files that may have been lost or corrupted. Also, all drivers are intact too!

Since there are viruses that affect winlogon (and they're active on the web now) - I'd suggest that you try this free, online scan to double check your protection: http://safety.live.com/
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
