Desktop Freezing?

Hi my screen keeps on freezing and the cursor freezes as well when i shut it down and startup the BIOS bleeps like - long bleep - pause - long bleep - pause - long bleep - pause ect ect. sometimes i have to take the mobo battery out or leave it of for a while, checked graphics card for overheating but seems fine Geforce 7600GT AGP 256MB by LEADTEK

Any suggestions would be greatly apprecieted

When there is something wrong with the graphics card you with get nothing at all on the screen of weird looking stuff. Everything freezing is usually the processor overheating.
