Posted 26 December 2006 - 12:41 PM

I recently upgraded to Systemworks Premier 2007. Unfortunately, due to installation problems, I had a period of 2 days with no protection on a DSL line. When I finally got to run the first scan, it found a ton of problems - most of which I've now sorted. My problem now is that I have an anti-virus pop-up informing me that 'Auto-Protect has blocked Downloader as a security risk. Your computer is secure'. Nice to know, but it tells me every 12 seconds!!! I've tried everything....rescans with Norton AV, scans by Spybot, AdAware, XoftSpy and AOL's Spyware Scanner, but still it keeps on popping up!! Now I'm getting AOL constantly telling me that it's quarantined 2 items....TopBrowser and Downloader-AYL. Can someone please help?

This is the Hijackthis log....

Fix these with HiJackThis – mark them, close IE, click fix checked

O20 - Winlogon Notify: AutorunsDisabled - C:\WINDOWS\

O23 - Service: COM+ Messages - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchosts.exe" -e mc-110-12-0000272 (file missing)
=============
Click Start > Run > and type in:

services.msc

Click OK.

In the services window find this exact name

COM+ Messages

Rightclick and choose "Properties". Beside "Startup Type" in the dropdown menu select "Disabled". On the "General" tab under "Service Status" click the "Stop" button to stop the service. Click Apply then OK. File-Exit the Services utility.

============
START – RUN – type in %temp% - OK - Edit – Select all – File – Delete

Delete everything in the C:\Windows\Temp folder or C:\WINNT\temp

Not all temp files will delete and that is normal
Empty the recycle bin
Boot and post a new log from normal NOT safe mode

Please give feedback on what worked/didn’t work and the current status of your system
