Ok, so I'm one those lucky people that is encountering a BSOD. I'm not a total fool when it comes to computers so this is being posted AFTER I've tried almost everything I can think of. Spyware programs, anti-virus programs... I mean I've run eWido/AVG/Spybot/Housecall/Ad-ware(I won't use CCleaner I've seen bad things happen with that program and I'm afraid to frag my HD)... Just about everything I can think of. I've cleaned my cache, my temp files, defragged, and whole list of things. So, I'm coming to you guys because you're awesome ^_^

The BSOD only happens when I am connected to the internet (I only use Firefox BTW) It is giving me a kernal error and tells me about how some hardware must be improperly installed (which there is nothing new o this computer, hardware or software oriented) It is saying i need to disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. I "apparently" need to restart into safe mode and remove components. It is also dumping my physical memory and making me restart the computer. Now after the fifth time this has happened I'm losing my mind here.

So, I got me HijackThis and I am posting the log in hopes that maybe someone can see a process that is running that is wrong or that is damaging my computer.

I appericate any sort of help I could get in this matter.

(BTW C:/Cassteillo is where I choose to keep my personal files because my little sisters don't go into that drive when the use the computer... so that's not a virus or something that is running wrong. it's supposed to be like that.)

Thanks.

Hi madriel, :thumbsup:

Welcome to BleepingComputer Forums and thanks again for your patience.

Since you're going into Safe Mode later it may be best to safe these instructions or print them.

1. Click on Start, Settings, Control Panel and double-click on Add or Remove Programs. From within Add or Remove Programs uninstall the following program if listed:

* My Web Search (Smiley Central or FWP product as applicable)
* My Way Speedbar (Smiley Central or other FWP as applicable)
* My Way Speedbar (AOL and Yahoo Messengers) (beta users only)
* My Way Speedbar (Outlook, Outlook Express, and IncrediMail)
* Search Assistant - My Way

The following is optional. It is not a virus or a trojan but detected as a potentially unwanted program: see here! and here! Of course it's up to you but if you agree it is unwanted than uninstall the following as well:

* MyWay
* MyWay Search Assistant

2. Run HijackThis, click Scan and checkmark the following entries:

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - ~4D25F926-B9FE-4682-BF72-8AB8210D6D75} - (no file)

  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on the Software icon > add/remove programs.
  • Search in the list for all previous installed versions of Java. (J2SE Runtime Environment.... )

    It should have next icon next to it: Posted Image
    Select it and click Remove.
  • Then Download and install the newest version from here:

Oh my god.... *___* That reply was the sweetest and most wonderful thing that anyone has given me in the last 4 months. The time and effort needed to write that <3 Oh, I thank you so from the bottom of my heart ^_^

I will be following your instructions and replying to this post once again after I have completed everything. Know that I am not ignoring you I am just working three 14hours days until the 28th and I don't have time to fix it at this moment.

I will reply after I have done all this (4 days tops) Just wanted to drop a reply and inform you of how deeply grateful I am of the help.

Thank you very much

P.S. - I know in no way does this promise anything will be fixed but it is an amazing and generous step towards helping me, even if it doesn't fix my BSOD problem <3 <3 <3
