When I try to pull up my start page this is what I get...

res://C:\WINNT\System32\shdoclc.dll/navcancl.htm

I've run Adaware, Spybot S&D, and CWShredder but it's still there. Can anybody
tell me where to go from here.
I have included my Hijack Log file...

Hi creekio,

There are some things I need you to do before we begin working on your log.

1. Run at least two of these online virus scans and allow them to clean all that they find.

TrendMicro's HouseCall
ActiveScan
BitDefender

2. Run Spyot and AdAware again. Be sure thay are updated.

3. Scan again with HijackThis and post another log. Your log is almost a week old and exactly the same as the one you posted at another forum:
http://forum.iamnotageek.com/t-415132.html

Scan saved at 5:07:19 PM, on 12/23/2004

The log may have changed over that time, especially if you run the recommended scans. It also would be a good idea to post to the thread you started on the 23rd and let them know you are getting help elsewhere. Or let them handle it and I'll close this thread. It's not a good idea to have two open, i.e., having one log and problem being worked on by more than one forum. Doing these logs can be very time consuming and one of us can be helping someone else if we know you're already being helped elsewhere.

Then we'll get you cleaned up.

I ran TrendMicro Housecall and ActiveScan and cleaned all that they found.
I then updated and ran Spybot S&D and AdAware again and removed what they found.

Here is the new HijackThis Log

OK then, let's get started.

I see you have SpywareGuard insalled. It may complain about the changes you are about to make. Just tell it to allow.

Please do the following:

Make sure that you can view all hidden files. Instructions on how to do this can be found here:
How to see hidden files in Windows

Scan again with HijackThis. Put a checkmark by these entries, double-checking to be sure that only the following entries are checked.

Close all other windows--you should only see HijackThis on your Desktop--and then click the "Fix checked" button.

Reboot your computer into Safe Mode and delete the following files if they exist:

C:\WINNT\ietlbass32.dll
C:\WINNT\msntmsPE.exe
C:\WINNT\hh64s-.exe

Run Disk Cleanup while still in safe mode. Type cleanmgr in the run box by going to Start>Run. Have it clean out the following three:

Temporary Files
Temporary Internet Files
Recycle Bin

REBOOT back into normal mode, scan again with HijackThis and post another log. Let me know if you see an improvement and any other comments that could be important.

The fate of all mankind, I see

Is in the hands of fools

Everything appears to be back to normal. It actually seems to be running a little faster! My Home Page is now set to my Cable modem
provider instead of Earthlink but, that is okay.

The 3 files you said I should delete if I found them...

C:\WINNT\ietlbass32.dll
C:\WINNT\msntmsPE.exe
C:\WINNT\hh64s-.exe

...were not there after the reboot in Safe Mode.

I believe all of the files you specified to be fixed by HJT are gone unless I overlooked it.
The new log is posted below.

As for anything unusal...

My Zone Alarm keeps popping up a window asking if the following
application can have access to the internet. This has happened in the past but, I am not sure what this is. Do you know?

It's called...

Install Shield Update Service Agent
Destination IP 127.0.0.1 Port 1051
Application: Agent.exe

Thanks very much for your help!!!

Glad things are better there creekio,

Here are a few odds and ends to attend to and you can help me with some information.

You have Kontiki installed and while this not considered out and out spyware you should read This Article and determine for yourself if you want to keep it. I had you remove an 02 BHO with a Kontiki file missing so I don't think it will work properly anyway. So let's remove it and if you want it back you can reinstall it.

To remove, go to Add/Remove Programs thru Control Panel and uninstall Kontiki.

Then scan again with HijackThis and have it fix these items:

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [cnet] "C:\Program Files\Kontiki\bin\kontiki.exe" -s cnet -q
O8 - Extra context menu item: Get It With Kontiki - res://C:\Program Files\Kontiki\bin\bh309190.dll/201

The following line is a known resource hog. You can still access your Office programs thru the start menu after fixing it with HJT:

O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\OSA9.EXE

Remember to close all other windows before fixing with HJT. Boot into Safe mode and delete the following folder:

C:\Program Files\Kontiki

While you are in safe mode I would like for you to check out a couple of files for me.

Navigate to the following and just tell me if the file is actually there or not:

c:\fixit\pt\PCTKRNT.SYS

And do a search (START>Search) for Agent.exe. It will probably be in your System32 folder. Right click on that file and choose Properties. Post back this information: size, modification date, and which app or company it belongs to. I think it is legit but there is more than one company it could belong to and let me know if it is something you recognize and use.

The fate of all mankind, I see

Is in the hands of fools
