I need to swap out my cooling fan since my computer is hitting 60+C degrees regularly and shutting down. I ordered this model, which is supposed to work for Pentium 4s with the LGA 775 socket:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16835186134

But it doesn't seem compatible with my computer ... on my computer the heat sink just snaps in and out of a relatively small rectangular bracket. This fan apparently attaches with the four twisty screw things which take up a large square area -- which don't seem like they're going to fit no matter what.

I have photos, but doesn't look like I can add them here.

Any ideas? If it's incompatible what should I be looking for since this fan seems to meet my specs on paper?

Appreciate your help!

From what I can tell (remember, I'm visually handicapped) - it seems that you may need to remove the black bracket on the motherboard for the plastic things on the device (on the right of the photo) to fit into the holes.

Otherwise, I'd suggest surfing to the manufacturer's website for detailed instructions.

Well, after typing all that, I found this link: http://www.arctic-cooling.com/cpu2.php?idx...ata=3&disc=

On that page are links to the installation instructions:
http://www.arctic-cooling.com/downloads/in...freezer7pro.pdf

And the Socket 775 Clip Removal instructions:
http://www.arctic-cooling.com/downloads/in...lip-Removal.pdf

Both are in PDF format, so you'll need a PDF reader (such as Adobe or Foxit) to read them.
