I downloaded the UT2k4 demo, it's in .run.gz format. I can't extract it, and I can't figure out how to run it either. I downloaded (from somewhere else) a linux-installer.sh and when I try and run that it requests that I put cds in. Does anyone have any idea how I can possibly get this to work?! I need it before friday so I can play at this LAN with my friend. Thanks.

have you tried the gunzip command?

ie:

you@localhost% gunzip /tmp/UT2k4 demo.run.gz

you'll also have to chmod the run file it produces or do it as root...it's better to chmod though...then switch to that directory and run the installer. That should do it. I hope I'm not too late.
If someone tells you to su rm -rf /
DON'T DO IT!!!!

It is too late, but I was able to play on a friends extra machine, so it worked out. I did try gunzip, but to no avail. I have since deleted the files, don't need them now because I'm getting my new computer soon and everything will be different on that..
