Please download, update and run (one at a time of course!) Spybot and Adaware. You can find links to each of these at the bottom of this post. Fix whatever they suggest.

Also, run this pc through the Panda Online virus scanner. You can also find the link for it at the bottom of this post. Then select another online scanner from this list and run it also. Make sure to select the "autoclean" option.

Next, reboot and post a fresh HijackThis log to this thread.

Sorry to be confusing John! There is no link. I was simply underlining to emphasize that it's important to update Ad-aware and SPybot before running them. Each program has its own update mechanism, and won't eliminate all malware unless used.

I want you to fix some of those entries. Please do the following:

Please make sure that you can view all hidden files. Instructions on how to do this can be found here:

How to see hidden files in Windows

Run Hijackthis again, click scan, and Put a checkmark next to each of these. Then click the Fix button
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [updmgr] C:\Program Files\Common files\updmgr\updmgr.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [soundcontrl] soundcontrl.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [System32.exe] System32.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Microsoft OfficeXP] officeXP.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [servicesxp] C:\WINDOWS\System32\ja\MicroSoft.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [desktop] C:\WINDOWS\System32\desktop.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Microsoft Update Machine] xvshost.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [alchem] C:\WINDOWS\alchem.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Windows Task Scheduler] C:\windows\system32\mstask32.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [soundcontrl] soundcontrl.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [System32.exe] System32.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Microsoft Update Machine] xvshost.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Windows Task Scheduler] C:\windows\system32\mstask32.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [mdhcp] C:\WINDOWS\System32\mdhcp.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Microsoft Update Time] wuam.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Microsoft Update Machine] xvshost.exe

Reboot your computer into Safe Mode and delete the following files:

Then delete these
C:\Program Files\Common files\updmgr\updmgr.exe
c:\windows\soundcontrl.exe or c:\windows\system32\soundcontrl.exe
c:\windows\System32.exe or c:\windows\system32\system32.exe
c:\windows\officeXP.exe or c:\windows\system32\officeXP.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\ja\MicroSoft.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\desktop.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\xvshost.exe
C:\WINDOWS\alchem.exe
C:\windows\system32\mstask32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\mdhcp.exe
c:\windows\wuam.exe or c:\windows\system32\wuam.exe

Disable System Restore. You can find instructions on how to enable and reenable system restore here:

Managing Windows Millenium System Restore
or

Windows XP System Restore Guide

Renable system restore with instructions from tutorial above

Reboot your computer to go back to normal mode and post a new log.

Your log looks great!

SpywareBlaster doesn't scan and clean for spyware - it prevents it from ever being installed.
http://www.wilderssecurity.com/spywareblaster.html

IE-SPYAD puts over 4000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.
http://www.staff.uiuc.edu/~ehowes/resource.htm#IESPYAD

Both are very small free programs that you run once, and then just occasionally to check for updates.

Also, make certain that you have updated Windows recently. And be sure to have an updated anti-virus and firewall running at all times!
