So here is my problem. I had a friend of mine who knows about computers check to see which Ram I needed to buy. I bought it and it didn't take. So here is my question.

1. Can my PC RAM even be upgraded?
2. What is all of the information that I need to know about my PC so I can just walk into a store show them the specs of my PC and have them tell me which RAM to buy?
3. What is the proper way to install my memory.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Use EVEREST Home Edition to find out if you have any free slots for more RAM.
It's a free, system information, system diagnostics, and benchmarking program.

Then you can go to one of these 3 sites, plug in your computer specs, and they will give you recomendations as to how much, and what type of RAM, you need to use.

Whatever you do, don't buy "cheap" RAM.
This is one area where it's definitely, "You get, what you pay for".

No# 1. Depending on your computer, your RAM may be non-upgradeable. But, don't take this as the true answer for this part. Post your computer specs here so we'll know what you have.

EVEREST Home Edition is a free system diagnostics, system information and benchmarking solution for home PC users, based on the award-winning EVEREST Technology. If you don't know what type of video card you have, or anyhting else about your computer, then you'll need this.

No# 2. You can print out the specs from the program above, and take that to them. But, the easiest and best way is to simply take out the RAM chip and take it to them.

No# 3. The opposite way of taking it out. At the ends of the slot where the memory fit, there are two lock tabs. Just gently push the RAM into place, and you'll see the tabs try to lock onto the chip. If they don't fully lock onto them, you simply move the tab towards the RAM chip and you will either hear or feel it lock in place. Sometimes it'll be both. It's real easy, and you'll be able to do it without much of a problem. Just make sure you're working your hands properly if your RAM is in a tight position.

Other than that, you'll be good to go. But 1st, go and download that software, and post back the specs of your computer, even the RAM information.
