Hi
I have been following posts on this forum trying to remove spyware from family computer. Its dell X86 running winxp home with service pack1 and Norton A.V. Subscribed to P.C Tools but problems re-occured. Downloaded Spybot S+d , it found Smitfraud-C. Toolbar888 removed it but keeps coming back. Downloaded Ad-Awareand within 6 secs.of scanning I.E.starts to freezeand then B.S.O.D. Windows on-line unable to remove Winsoftware. Would appreciate advice on the cause of conflict. Thank u for your time

If Spybot is the only program flagging Smitfraud-C.Toolbar888, it could be a false positive that was previously reported. See Post #3 here: http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=8668

However, you are also reporting Winsoftware (the makers of several rogue security products such as Winfixer, WinAntiVius Pro 2006, ErrorSafe, DriveCleaner, SystemDoctor 2006) which can be related to vundo and/or smitfraud infections.

We have a self-help section for removing common malware.

Please see the self-help tutorial
How to remove the Smitfraud / Generic Zlob with SmitfraudFix.
How To Remove Winfixer/Virtumonde/Msevents/Trojan.vundo.

When done with that download and scan with AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 in "SAFE MODE".
Be sure to print out and follow the AVG Anti-Spyware Install-Scan Instructions

Post back if your still having problems after following these instructions.
