 First of all i would like to say hi to everyone here on these so... helpful forums, and that im glad im here to expossed my situation to you and hopefully find a possible solution to my problem, thank you guys in advance!!! :flowers:
and well... the story goes like this, about two months ago i opened a file that was send to me from a friend that he had actually downloaded from the internet and tought it was funny. it came in a Winrar folder and when i open the folder i notice a program that had desapear instantly, moments later i received a message from my Panda AV telling me that a trojan had been detected and blocked or deleted from my system. right after that i ran a complete scan of my computer With Spyware Doctor & Spybot Search and Destroy. it seems like nothing was there except from some adware and cookies but nothing to make a big deal out of, well... ever since, my computer started to get slower and slower and several messages appear telling me of errors. it seems like i dont have anymemory left and a couple times spyware doctor finds trojans that sometimes i wonder how they got into my computer. another issue is that... i tried to install my Panda Firewall but when do so it shows me a window that says that a Sygate firewall is already install in my computer and that it is unable to install the panda Firewall for such reazon. as far as i know, i had never install any other firewall on my computer except for the Panda Firewall (right now i have the microsoft firewall running) heres the hijackthis log and hopefully you guys may see something i dont. you all have a great day.

Hello Ecosis,

I am SifuMike and I will be helping you.

Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update.

Updating Java:
  • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6.
  • Scroll down to where it says "Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
  • The page will refresh.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language jre-6-windows-i586.exe and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6-windows-i586.exe to install the newest version.
*******************

Disable your antivirus program and go here http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html and run an online scan with BitDefender (you will need to use Internet Explorer for this scan). When the ActiveX Control has loaded, click on "Click here to scan" and grab a coffee. :flowers:

When BitDefender completes the scan, select the "Detected Problems" tab.
Click on "Click here to export scan".
Save the file as an HTML to your Desktop.
Then click on the saved file and allow it to open with your browser.
Go to Edit - Select All then copy/paste that log back here.
Post the BitDefender log.

*******************

5. Click on "Save Report" to view all completed scans.
Click on the most recent scan you just performed and select "Save report as" - the default file name will be in date/time format as follows: Report-Scan-20060620-142816.txt. Save to your desktop. A copy of each report will also be saved in C:\Program Files\AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5\Reports\
6. Exit AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5

When done, submit the AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 log, BitDefender log   and a  fresh Hijackthis log. Make sure you run Hijackthis in the Normal Mode, as it looks like the log you submitted was done in the Safe Mode.

Hi Ecosis,

I see only one malware, but several items we can remove to speed up your computer startup.

Download CCleaner and install it. (default location is best). Do not run it yet!

CCleaner Tutorial

*******************************************

How to Reboot into Safe Mode
tap F8 key during reboot, until the boot menu appears...use the arrow keys to choose "Safe Mode" from the menu......,then press the "Enter" key. If that does not work this go to this site: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/how-to-start-windows-in-safe-mode/

Please boot into Safe Mode and select the following with HijackThis.
With all windows (including this one!) closed (close browser/explorer windows), please select "fix.”

O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {4982D40A-C53B-4615-B15B-B5B5E98D167C} - (no file)
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {930E4DE1-973D-42D6-BF6E-6788E06BD003} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AlcxMonitor] ALCXMNTR.EXE
O9 - Extra button: AOL Toolbar - {4982D40A-C53B-4615-B15B-B5B5E98D167C} - (no file)
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: AOL Toolbar - {4982D40A-C53B-4615-B15B-B5B5E98D167C} - (no file)

The following are not necessarily spyware/malware, but I suggest you place a check mark next to the following entries, as these programs may be taking up system resources.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0\bin\jusched.exe"
(Description: Sun Java update scheduler. Checks for updates. Not necessary. Removing this entry will free up a small amount of system resources.)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NvCplDaemon] RUNDLL32.EXE NvQTwk,NvCplDaemon initialize
(Description: NVidia graphics card system tray application for tweaking. Not necessary. Removing this entry will free up a small amount of system resources.)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [hpsysdrv] c:\windows\system\hpsysdrv.exe
(Description: HP monitoring tool. Unnecessary. Remove this to free up some system resources.)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [HotKeysCmds] C:\WINDOWS\System32\hkcmd.exe
(Description: Intel hotkey applet. Unnecessary. Removing this will free up a small amount of system resources.)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] \"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe\" -osboot
(Description: RealPlayer scheduler. Completely unnecessary. Removing this entry will free up a small amount of system resources.)

O4 - Startup: Adobe Gamma.lnk = C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Calibration\Adobe Gamma Loader.exe
(Description: Adjusts monitor colours across all programs, including Photoshop. It is needed by some graphics professionals who want their monitor calibrated. Most home users will not need it, and thus should remove this entry.)

*******************************************

Go to My Computer and double-click C.
Go to the Tools menu and select 'Folder Options'.
On the 'View' tab select 'show hidden files and folders',
deselect (uncheck) 'hide protected operating system files (recommended)', and
deselect (uncheck) "Hide extensions for known file types.'

Don't use the windows start\search feature
Using Windows Explorer, find and delete each of the following. If you can't delete an item, right-click it and click properties. Make sure 'read-only' is unchecked.
If you still can't delete something, right-click it and rename it to a random word. Then drag the item to a different location. Try deleting it now. If you still can't, be sure to let me know.

Using Windows Explorer, delete the following files/folders in bold (Do not be concerned if they do not exist)

C:\WINDOWS\ALCXMNTR.EXE <==file

*******************************************

*NOTE* CCleaner deletes EVERYTHING out of temp/temporary folders and does not make backups.

Let's empty the temp files:

Run CCleaner.

1. Starting with v1.27.260, CCleaner installs the Yahoo Toolbar as an option which IS checkmarked by default during the installation.
IF you do NOT want it, REMOVE the checkmark when provided with the option OR download the toolbarfree Basic version instead of the Standard Build.

2. Before first use, select Options > Advanced and UNCHECK "Only delete files in Windows Temp folder older than 48 hours"

3. Then select the items you wish to clean up.

In the Windows Tab:
• Clean all entries in the "Internet Explorer" section except Cookies.
• Clean all the entries in the "Windows Explorer" section.
• Clean all entries in the "System" section.
• Clean all entries in the "Advanced" section.
• Clean any others that you choose.

In the Applications Tab:
• Clean all except cookies in the Firefox/Mozilla section if you use it.
• Clean all in the Opera section if you use it.
• Clean Sun Java in the Internet Section.
• Clean any others that you choose.

4. Click the "Run Cleaner" button.
5. A pop up box will appear advising this process will permanently delete files from your system.
6. Click "OK" and it will scan and clean your system.
7. Click "exit" when done.

If it asks you to reboot at the end, click NO.

CCleaner should be run with the above settings for each User Account!

*******************************************

Finally, reboot to the Normal Mode and post a new Hijackthis log, and tell me how your computer is running.

Use the CCleaner version you have on your computer. You dont have to deinstall and install it.

Merry Christmas.

Hi Ecosis,

Hi Ecosis,

You log looks clean of malware but there is one item to fix.

The following are not necessarily spyware/malware, but I suggest you place a check mark next to the following entry, as this program may be taking up system resources.
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot

You have two registry protectors running (AVG guard and Spyware Doctor OnGuard) and that will slow your computer.

Disable one of them.

To disable Spyware Doctor OnGuard
1. From within Spyware Doctor, click the "OnGuard" button on the left side.
2. Uncheck "Activate OnGuard".

To disable AVG Antispyware Guard.
Launch AVG Antispyware and in the main window click "Realtime protection" (in green indicating "Active") to change to inactive.

*********************************************

Let's dig deeper to see if you have anything lurking about.

1. Download this file - combofix.exe
2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply

Notes:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall
Disable script blocking if you have Norton Antivirus installed so it will not interfere with the fix. Trojan Hunter has been reported to detect combofix as Worm.Qiv.100.

*********************************************

im still getting those memory errors (Especially when loging off) (good thing a've got all of those errors messages saved on my computer just in case i need'em)

What do the memory errors say?

How much memory do you have on this computer?
In Windows XP, annything less than 512 MB of RAM will cause you to run slow.

Let's do a quick check of resources.

Press <Ctrl>-<Alt>-<Del> to open Task Manager, then click on the Processes tab.
Place a check next to Show processes from all users.
Double click on the CPU column. This will put the process using the most CPU at the top of the page.
Note the numbers at the bottom, CPU usage should be running at 0 to no more than five percent if your system is idle (no background tasks running).
If that is not the case, scroll down and see if any of the processes is running at a high percentage of CPU usage.

On a normal system at idle the System Idle Process (available RAM) should show about 98 percent, meaning nothing else is using the CPU.

The next columns to the right, memory usage and peak memory usage, may also show something out of line if one process is using a large amount of memory. If you see anything showing high CPU usage or high Memory usage, make a note of it.

Now, click the Performance tab. The key numbers here are in the Commit Charge box -- The Total and Peak figures; and in the Physical Memory box, the Total figure.

Make a note of these three numbers.
L would like to see them, but I can tell you what I'm looking for: basically, any time the Commit Charge exceeds the total physical memory, Windows will have to constantly swap data back and forth between the hard drive and the RAM chips. This is known as thrashing .

So, the rule of thumb is, is your Peak Commit Charge is greater than your total Physical memory, your either need to (1) install more RAM or (2) reduce your commit charge by trimming down the number of running processes (which means programs and also optional Windows components).

hello mike. im been doing some research about whats been goin on with the computer, i called HP (Since my computer is insured) but what they suggest is for me or them to do a complete system recovery, ( I was like, yeah right) i know better than that and im not willing to just give up ( At leat not yet) and well... let me tell you a little about what i did.
i did remove the entry, disable the guard on one of the Antispyware, Scan the computer with the "COMBOFIX" this last thing i did i wasnt sure what was goin on. it ran on the computer, i waited for like 1 hour and 30 minutes and it never stop. althought it showed that it was scanning the computer. finally i try to stop it and give me a black screen. so i reboot the computer and left it without runing. about the system idle process... its just like you mention it, about 98 and nothing else is running more than 10. the memory is 512 mb. and... let me see if i understood, mmm. ok i got this from the commit charge box, and the numbers are this. 503 and... this other from Physical Memory Total: 515564. and... i think thats just about it for now. ah i almost forgot, about those messages... the message is the very same, except that the numbers change, here's a sample:
The instruction at"0x7c910f29"referenced memory at"0x00000ee0"The memory could not be "read"
and like that, i received many, many, many of those. some of them instead of saying the memory could not be read, say the memory could not be written. so... basically those are the messages im getting everysingle day and everytime  . i really hope that's just memory thats been needed for this computer. otherwise i'll go crazy. see you next time mike :flowers:

Hi Ecosis,

You Hijackthis log looks clean. :flowers:

The fact that you could not run ComboFix does not sound good. It normally runs quite fast (10-15 minutes) and without problems.

This does not sound like a malware problem. It could be a memory problem, driver problem, or damaged registry file(s).

Let's run SUPERantispyware as a double check for malware.

Download SUPERantispyware
  • Load SUPERantispyware and click the check for updates button.
  • Once the update is finished click the scan your computer button.
  • Check Perform Complete Scan and then next.
  • Superantispyware will now scan your computer and when its finished it will list all the infections it has found.
  • Make sure that they all have a check next to them and press next.
  • Click finish and you will be taken back to the main interface.
  • Click Preferences and then click the statistics/logs tab. Click the dated log and press view log and a text file will appear.
  • Copy and paste the log to this thread.
*******************

It may be a bad sector on your hard drive.  Running chkdsk should repair this.

There are two different types of disk checks:
one is a file check, which checks the state of your operating system, checks all of your files, your file structure, and other software checks. If there are software problems (such as a corrupt FAT (file allocation table), etc., this check will attempt to fix it.

The other is a physical hardware disk check. This checks the surface of your hard disks, to see if there are bad sectors (sections) of your hard drive, to see if your drive is physically experiencing problems. This disk check will attempt to repair the bad sectors, but if it can’t, it will mark the sector as bad and attempt to move the file(s) or file “pieces” to a good sector(s) of the disk. By marking the sector as bad, it knows not to write any future files to this section of the hard drive.

To run a disk check (or scan disk), here are the steps:
For XP, double-click My Computer. Right-click the C-drive and click Properties. Click on the Tools tab and choose to check the computer for problems. Click on Check Now. You will then have two check boxes.
The top option is for the file check, and the second option is for the hardware (physical disk) check. Check both.
This will take quite a bit longer to run, so let it run over night.

One thing, though: For XP, you won’t be able to run the check right then.
After clicking the Start button (once the check boxes are checked), you will need to reboot to run the disk check. It will ask you if you want the system to run the CHKDSK on reboot. Choose Yes and reboot.
Just before getting back into Windows, the system will do its CHKDSK, and depending on which options you chose, will take either a few minutes, and sometimes up to an hour or so, to run.
Let it run.

*******************

Let's run Microsoft's System File Checker program. This will replace any damaged system files.

Scannow Tutorial
http://www.updatexp.com/scannow-sfc.html

You may need the Windows Install CD, so have it ready.
Go to Start, then Run,  type sfc /scannow in the run box and press enter.

Note: There is a space between sfc and the forward slash. Windows will ask you for your Windows Install CD so put it in...don't worry if the XP setup screen appears, this is
not a part of sfc /scannow, your autorun utility in Windows is starting it. Simply
minimize the screen and allow sfc to continue.

Hello mike, i have the log ready for you. mmm, nothing has change in the computer. im talking about the messages, the computer does run a little smoothly but i do think that the other thing may have to do with memory or like you said... hardware or something else but viruses, trojans or spyware. although "Superantispyware" did find something there. well... check it out please and i will comeback right after new years. meanwhile... you have a great time and enjoy the end of year. HAPPY New Year mike and thanks for taking the time to help me!!!

Hi Ecosis,

Always like to help, and hopefully solve the problem.

SUPERAntiSpyware got rid of two trojans, but I think the problem is something like a bad file or driver or memory.

Have you done the other two things I suggested? The System File Checker and chkdsk?

You could test your memory here memtest86
