Hi Mabus,

Welcome to BleepingComputer Forums and thanks again for your patience.

Sorry for the long wait.

1. Run HijackThis, click the Config... button, then go to the Misc Tools section and click Open Uninstall Manager. You'll see a list of programs; click on Save List...

The file "uninstall_list.txt" will be created. Copy and paste the contents of this file to your next reply.

2. Run HijackThis again, click Scan and checkmark the following entries:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/...//www.yahoo.com
R3 - URLSearchHook: {0000031A-0000-0000-C000-000000000046} - - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {02478D38-C3F9-4efb-9B51-7695ECA05670} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: InstantChess - {40D61F04-59E4-4C8D-BF6E-697AB9C21F43} - C:\WINDOWS\DOWNLO~1\CHESSBAR.DLL (file missing)
O2 - BHO: ZIBho Class - {029CA12C-89C1-46a7-A3C7-82F2F98635CB} - C:\PROGRAM FILES\KONTIKI\BIN\BH309190.DLL (file missing)
O2 - BHO: WebBar Class - {EE392A64-F30B-47C8-A363-CDA1CEC7DC1B} - C:\PROGRA~1\APPLIE~1\BAR.DLL
O2 - BHO: PEDEV_IEListener Class - {E1412445-4FF8-410e-8D24-F2CF86B171A4} - C:\PROGRAM FILES\PEDEVICE\PEDEV.DLL
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Upsfc] C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\APPA285.TMP
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [smanp] C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\APPE1C0.TMP
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Nfo] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\nfomon\nfomon.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IST Service] \ISTsvc\istsvc.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CQmf] C:\CDGYEV.EXE
O4 - Startup: Check For Dope Wars Updates.lnk = C:\Program Files\Dopewars\WiseUpdt.exe

The following entry is an optional fix: see this Note on eAcceleration Stop-Sign
"While testing indicates that the "threat scanner" is still slow and has occasional problems with false positives -- in large part because of the use of heuristics, which cannot be turned off by the user -- we can no longer classify this application as "rogue/suspect." Nonetheless, this anti-malware application -- at least in its current state -- cannot be recommended, given the many excellent competing anti-virus, anti-trojan, and anti-spyware applications that are available"

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [LSPFix] C:\Program Files\Common Files\eAcceleration\LSPfix\LSPmonitor.exe normal

Do you know what this is:

O4 - Startup: MYmailSAFEEng.lnk = C:\Program Files\Setup.exe
O4 - Startup: MYmailSAFE.lnk = C:\Program Files\McAfee.com\VSO\mcvsrte.exe

If not checkmark the entries as well!

Close all browsers and windows, except for HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button; close HijackThis!

3. Reboot and as the computer starts up, just before Windows starts to load, tap the F8 key a few times and then choose Safe Mode from the menu that will appear.

4. Using Windows Explorer (to get there right-click your Start button and go to "Explore"), please delete the following folders in bold if listed:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\nfomon

.......... and file in bold if listed:

C:\CDGYEV.EXE

Let me know if you had problems with this step.

5. Clean your Cache and Cookies in IE:

* Close all instances of Outlook Express and Internet Explorer
* Go to Control Panel > Internet Options > General tab
* Click the "Delete Cookies" button
* Next to it, Click the "Delete Files" button
* When prompted, place a check in: "Delete all offline content", click OK

Clean your Cache and Cookies in Firefox (In case you also have Firefox installed):

* Go to Tools > Options.
* Click Privacy in the menu on the left side of the Options window.
* Click the Clear button located to the right of each option (History, Cookies, Cache).
* Click OK to close the Options window
Alternatively, you can clear all information stored while browsing by clicking Clear All.
A confirmation dialog box will be shown before clearing the information.

Clean other Temporary files + Recycle bin

* Go to start > run and type: cleanmgr and click ok.
* Let it scan your system for files to remove.
* Make sure Temporary Files, Temporary Internet Files, and Recycle Bin are the only things checked.
* Press OK to remove them.

6. Restart to go back into Normal mode.

7. Perform an onlinescan with Panda: Panda Online
- Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button
- A new window will open...click the Check Now button
- Enter your Country
- Enter your State/Province
- Enter your e-mail address and click send
- Select either Home User or Company
- Click the big Scan Now button
- If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
- It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a few minutes)
- When download is complete, click on Local Disks to start the scan
- When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location.

Please post the Panda report along with the uninstall_list.txt and a fresh HijackThis log.

Hi Mabus,

HijackThis log looks fine.

1. Click on Start, Settings, Control Panel and double-click on Add or Remove Programs. From within Add or Remove Programs uninstall the following programmes:

Dope Wars 2.2 for Windows
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
WebDP 2.07

2. Please do an online scan with Kaspersky Online Scanner r

Next Click on Launch Kaspersky Anti-Virus Web Scanner

You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.

* The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
* Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
* Now click on Scan Settings
* In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
o Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
Standard
o Scan Options:
Scan Archives
Scan Mail Bases
* Click OK
* Now under select a target to scan:
Select My Computer
* This program will start to scan your system.
* The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
* Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
o Now click on the Save as Text button:
* Save the file to your desktop.
* Copy and paste that information in your next post.

Please post the Kaspersky report and let me know how things are running now.
