Hello everyone,
First of all let me thank you for taking the time to read this post. I believed my computer got infected after a downloaded some cracks even through McAfee SiteAdvisor warned me not to ( I know, not a very smart move on my part)
To streamline this post and ease your reading, I will list the steps I took to solve (unsuccessfully) this pest.

Symptoms of Contamination
1- First I noticed my homepage being changed
2- A new icon called "System Alert" keeps flashing on my taskbar telling me I got malicious wares
3- If clicked on it, it opens a window to purchase a "Antivermins"- some phony antivirus

Detection
1- I open task manager and used the info under the process tab to look up .exe files on Google and detect possible virus (which took me to this great site)
2- Sure enough I found: language.exe, isamonitor.exe.
And under Remove/Add Programs in Control panel: system alert pop up, video activex object 2.07, public messenger 2.03. internet explorer security plug in 2006

Removal
1- I ran My McAfee Virus Scan ( I have the 2007 10 in 1 version)

2- I unistalled the programs from control panel, whith the exception of system alert pop up, which said it was already unisntalled and to instead remove it from list, which i did

3- I followed the tutorials on your site to remove pests, namely:
a) Autoruns
b) SmidFraudFix
Both failed to remove the System Alert! icon/balloon, and in fact, this damn thing showed up in Safe Mode all along. I tried other boot up modes as well and the thing was always present.

Next Solution
a) AdAware- which detected 101 objects (mostly cookies)
b) Spybot Search&Destroy- detected about 5 that AdAware missed, including the damned Troj/Zlob
But guess what!!!??? Even after I quarantined/deleted the threats, the evil icon/balloon is still here!!!!

Finally I realized it's better to consult real experts, and i did the HijackThis Scan and notpad log which i am enclosing as you guys suggested:

Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1
