Hi,

I've run AdAware, Spybot S&D, and my Avast anti-virus program, but none of them seems to catch whatever is causing my problems. My browser (IE) is running slower than then normal, I keep getting pop-ups that weren't there before and certain words or phrases on web pages are in hypertext format (that are not supposed to be) to try to lure me into clicking them. Following is my HJT log, any help in diagnosing it would be appreciated.

That's what I was afraid of - a new problem that no one knows how to solve.

Help, please, anyone. Even a "we don't have a clue, so go away" would do so I can move on to other attempts to fix this problem.

Please be patient. Everyone who helps you here does it as a volunteer and will try to help you as soon as possible.

It is not a good ideea to "Bump" your post, it will only delay
help for your log. When selecting logs we generally use two criteria to
look for unanswered logs.

1. We started from the oldest to the most recent. That means if you
keep bumping, your log is at the top of the list, and since we do not work
from the top, it will be looked at last!!

2. We look first for posts with no replies. A bump is a reply so
you get pushed further down the response ladder.
Everyday is virus day. Do you know where your recovery CDs are ?
Did you create them yet ?

Please download and run this tool from Symantec:

http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcen...moval.tool.html
Follow Symantec's instructions for how to run it.

When the removal process is finished you will find a log on your Desktop . Don't delete it. Please copy & paste the contents of the log as a reply to this post.

Post please also a new HJT log.

Trojan.Vundo has not been found on your computer.

This is bad :flowers:

Download Ad-aware SE 1.05: here
Install it. When you get the last screen, with the "Finish" button and 3 options, uncheck those three items.
Open AdAware and click the "Check for updates now" link. Close AdAware. Don't use it yet.

Download System Security Suite here:
System Security Suite Download & Tutorial. Unzip it to your desktop.
Install the program. Don't use it yet.

Download KillBox here: KillBox. Unzip it to your desktop.

Disconnect from the internet.
Do not connect until told to do so

Start Killbox and click on Tools --> Select Delete Temp Files. Click OK.

Select the Delete on reboot option.

Copy and paste the following file to the field labeled "Full path of file to delete"
C:\DOCUME~1\Jon\LOCALS~1\Temp\yekcbdo.dat

Press the Delete button (the button that looks like a red circle with a white X in it).

A first dialog box will ask if you want to delete the file on reboot, press the YES button.

A second dialog box will ask you if you want to REBOOT now. Press the NO button.

Repeat steps above for these files:

C:\WINDOWS\Tasks\crcom.exe

C:\WINDOWS\Speech\asdns.exe

C:\WINDOWS\Tasks\basad.exe

C:\WINDOWS\Registration\odbckey.exe

C:\WINDOWS\System32\bsgyieub.exe

Copy and paste the following file to the field labeled "Full path of file to delete"
C:\WINDOWS\System32\hostx.exe

Press the Delete button (the button that looks like a red circle with a white X in it).

A first dialog box will ask if you want to delete the file on reboot, press the YES button.

A second dialog box will ask you if you want to REBOOT now. Press the YES button.

Your computer will reboot.

Run AdAware, press the "Start" button, uncheck "Scan for negligible risk entries", select "Perform full system scan" and press "Next". Let AdAware remove anything it finds.

With all windows and browsers closed.
Clean out temporary and Temporary Internet Files.
A. Open System Security Suite.
B. In the Items to Clear tab thick:
- Internet Explorer (left pane): Cookies & Temporary files
- My Computer (right pane): Temporary files & Recycle Bin
Press the Clear Selected Items button.
Close the program.

Connect to the internet.

Post a new log please. If this doesn't work you have to send me the files for an analysis.
Everyday is virus day. Do you know where your recovery CDs are ?
Did you create them yet ?

I did everything exactly as you noted up to here:

"A second dialog box will ask you if you want to REBOOT now. Press the YES button."

When I clicked YES to reboot, I got the following error message:

PendingFileRenameOperation Registry Data has been removed by external processes

Since I couldn't reboot through Killbox, I just rebooted using the Start menu. I'm not sure if this would have the same effect or not. After rebooting, I then proceeded with the rest of the steps. After all this I ran HJT again and most of the files are back again. Here it is:

C:\WINDOWS\Registration\odbckey.exe

Press the Delete button (the button that looks like a red circle with a white X in it).

A first dialog box will ask if you want to delete the file on reboot, press the YES button.

A second dialog box will ask you if you want to REBOOT now. Press the NO button.

Repeat the stept above for these files:
C:\WINDOWS\Tasks\crcom.exe

C:\WINDOWS\Speech\asdns.exe

Killbox will tell you if the files are present or not.

Copy and paste the following file to the field labeled "Full path of file to delete"
C:\DOCUME~1\Jon\LOCALS~1\Temp\yekcbdo.dat

Hi

Run HijackThis!, press Scan, and put a check mark next to all these:

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [JavaUpdate0.07] C:\WINDOWS\System32\bsgyieub.exe

Close all other windows and browsers, and press the Fix Checked button.

Copy the contents of the Quote Box below to Notepad.
Click File menu -> Save and name the file as fix.reg
Change the Save as Type to All Files
Save this file on the desktop.

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify\odbckey]

Double-click on the fix.reg file on your desktop, and when it prompts to merge say Yes, and this will repair some registry entries.

REBOOT your machine.
Run HijackThis! again and post a new log please.
