My Specs:

Windows 2000 Professional Service Pack 4
Kaspersky Anti-virus 6

Main Problem:

I recently installed a few programs. A few have popped up in my Add/Remove programs section though, that I did not install. Although I installed a few programs recently, I'm not sure that was what instigated my problems because, to be honest, I was surfing around for a few things and landed myself on a few questionable websites. I say questionable because my Anti-virus immediately detected trojans etcetera, upon visiting the sites. I obviously closed them right away and ran a scan. Anyways, as I said there are a few programs that I've tried to uninstall because I know I didn't install them and they just seem like trouble  I received an error stating "You should reboot your computer prior to uninstalling this software. Reboot Now?" and the only options available are 'OK' and 'Cancel'. I don't want to reboot, that should never happen when something is installed. The two programs that I've been suspicious of are "Video ActiveX Object 2.07" and "Public Messenger ver 2.03".

Video ActiveX Object 2.07 - Click here for screenshot
Public Messenger ver 2.03 - Click here for screenshot

Other related problems:

-Constantly receiving this alert (not from my virus scanner) of some trojan. [ Screenshot ]

-Constantly opening a website called Virusbursters.com

-Unidentified icon in tray that won't give me any options when right-clicked. [ Screenshot ]

-Multiple unidentified processes running that won't let me close them or just reopen upon ending.
A few names: pmsngr.exe, pmmon.exe, isamini.exe, isamonitor.exe, RichVideo.exe

*These other problems were only mentioned because I'm trying to include all information but don't focus on them unless you think they will help in fixing my problem.

Steps I've taken:

-Ran a Virus Scan but it seems to have stopped in the middle (never happened to me before)
(going to reboot and try another scan to see if that helps - will reply if anything changes)

-Ran HijackThis Scan - Here's the log file...

Virusbursters removal instructions:

Install the free trial version of Super Antispyware. Let it delete whatever it finds.

If after doing the above, post a hijack this log by following the instructions in the link below.

I did not use the suggested Virusbursters removal as it seemed to require that you have a program called Virusbursters showing up in Add/Remove Programs and I didn't. I did however find and delete quite a few things with SuperAntispyware and also upon restart my Kaspersky anti-virus found and deleted quite a few things. Then I ran my Ad-aware and Spybot to find more unwanted items and hopefully remove the rest (yeah right). My system appears to be running very smoothly and I no longer have those unwanted programs in Add/Remove Programs. I also no longer have any unwanted processes running in the background as far as I can tell. Here is my Hijack this log:

Glad you were able to remove a lot of malware. In my first post I gave you a link for posting a Hijack This Log.

Be sure and read the instructions carefully and do not bump your log once posted.

“Every atom in your body came from a star that exploded and the atoms in your left hand probably came from a different star than your right hand. It really is the most poetic thing I know about physics...you are all stardust.”Lawrence M. Krauss

A 1792 U.S. penny, designed in part by Thomas Jefferson and George Washington, reads “Liberty Parent of Science & Industry.”
