Detects Internet Connected But Doesnt Work

hey my roommate just got a computer so i hooked up a home network. if i click on view workgroup computers on mine his computer shows up but on his computer neither his or my show up. in the networking options his computer says its connected to the network. Heres mine main problem the computer detects that there is a internet connection but we open explorer and it just say cannot find server even though the computer says it has the connection. any help would be muchly appreciated

Go to Start> Run> type cmd and press enter. When the command line windows opens type in ipconfig
What is your IP and Default Gateway IP address? It should be the 2nd and 4th lines.

His or your firewall may be blocking connection from your internet connection!!!

Have you run the Network Setup Wizard and the Network Connection Wizard?
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
