I have a question about running the "aboutbuster" program. It says to run in SAFE MODE, which I did, but is there a need to turn off the SYSTEM RESTORE?

No. Suppose something went wrong, you would not have it to fall back on.

OK thanks. Now I wonder why I keep getting "aboutblank". I use AT&T Yahoo browser and Firefox 2 most of the time, very seldom IE. I'm not sure at this moment what my default browser setting is. Here's what I've been running to try to eliminate aboutblank. Not necessarily in this order.
1. Ad-Aware
2. A squared
3. CW Shredder
4. Aboutbuster
5. McAfee Stinger
6. Webroot Spy Sweeper
7. Norton Internet Security 2007
8. Ccleaner
Spy Sweeper detects "about blank" and it is Quarantined. Aboutbuster detects it and says it removes it and resets the IE settings. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?
Two weeks a go all 3 of my browser homepages were changed. After my computer was turned off for a day the original pages returned.
I haven't had any problems with the browser pages until Windows updated IE to IE 7. I removed IE 7 and now have IE 6 again. I still get "aboutblank" adware on some of my scans. Could IE 7 have started this problem? As always, any help is appreciated. Thanks. BTW, my connection is DSL.
My NIS 2007 has a firewall(software) and my DSL 2Wire modem has the 1-way firewall(internal hardware). Can my firewall settings be set wrong? When I run the GRC Firewall test it always passes.
