hiya all.. havin a problem whenever i startup xp pro i keep getting a window saying svchiost.exe needs to close...

i checked on google about this program and have been told its not a good program. ive got norton systemworks 2006 plus various spywhere removal program but none of them finds it svchiost when i run them.

any help would be great....... :thumbsup:

svchiost.exe (if its spelled exactly like that) is almost 100% not a valid program. Have you searched your computer for this file?

Probably in the Windows folder. If you find it, reboot into safe mode, and delete only the file : C:\Windows\svchiost.exe

hiya yes ive done a search but doesnt come up with anything. the only strange thing about it is the dot in the "i" of svchiost.exe looks like a little triangle. very odd.

Problem solved. after checking in my windows folder under hidden files i deleted svchiost.exe. so i no longer get the problem at startup.. :thumbsup:

To be pretty sure I would still run an online anti virus scan and spyware scan.
These bad guys never come alone :thumbsup:
