Hi all,

I have used computers for many years and when I have rarely had a problem I have always managed to solve it myself or found answers already out there. This is the first question I can remember asking about computing.

I have a Dell Dimension 2000 desktop machine, XP SP2 and IE6 I have a webserver and MySQL database server. My girlfriend has a Fujitsu laptop and we share the internet connection (Brightview Broadband- static IP) with XP ICS using a wireless network. We have no file sharing software or instant messaging.

Symptoms:
intermittent low rate of traffic on my ADSL connection
Large volumes sent/received if left unattended
Not affected by presence of wireless network

SecuritySoftware:
Using Spysweeper evaluation + Antivirus
Using ZoneAlarm personal firewall (free version) - allows this traffic/activity even when lock is engaged
Spybot search and destroy, up to date and finds nothing
Lavasoft Adaware - up to date and finds nothing
TcpView (sysinternals) - does not seem to detect the activity visible on modem connection (IPv6, tunnel?)

RootkitRevealer log:
HKU\S-1-5-21-3389822589-1902703575-190109941-1007\RemoteAccess\InternetProfile 07/11/2006 10:08 33 bytes Data mismatch between Windows API and raw hive data.
HKLM\SECURITY\Policy\Secrets\SAC* 11/08/2004 01:23 0 bytes Key name contains embedded nulls (*)
HKLM\SECURITY\Policy\Secrets\SAI* 11/08/2004 01:23 0 bytes Key name contains embedded nulls (*)
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\webcal\URL Protocol 26/01/2005 13:56 13 bytes Data mismatch between Windows API and raw hive data.
C:\System Volume Information\_restore{202550A8-7A33-4BCA-9586-051D24DDBF8F}\RP479\A0052354.RDB 03/12/2006 16:35 1.19 MB Hidden from Windows API.

Most of these entries I understand are false positives and one related to the fact it's a Dell
The restore point entry has occurred since I attempted a roll back to a configuration, the traffic was still present so I undid the rollback then this entry shows up from rootkit revealer.

I have also run:
Panda Active Scan (found nothing)
Panda Internet Security + Antivirus - evaluation (found nothing)
Bitdefender online scan (hung on penultimate object in scan)

HJT log:
Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1
Scan saved at 16:35:35, on 03/12/2006
Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600)
