Hi pac

Download the latest version of HijackThis!: Download here HJT 1.99. Save it on your Desktop. You will need now to unzip hijackthis.exe to a permanent folder, such as c:\hjt . This has to be done as HijackThis creates backups. You may need to use these backups.

First create a new folder:
A. Click My Computer icon on your desktop
B. Click C: drive
C. Click the File menu --> New --> Folder, a folder "New folder" will be created.
D. Rename it HJT

Unzip hijackthis.exe to the c:\HJT folder.

Run HijackThis.exe Press the Scan button, then Save Log.
Notepad will open.

In Notepad click
Edit menu --> Select All
then
Edit menu --> Copy

When responding to a post from one of our HJT Team members, please reply in the same topic - click the Add Reply button. Do not create a new topic for your reply. This will cause confusion and only cause a delay in the help you are receiving.

Right click in the message area and click on the paste option to paste the log into the post.

cryo, thanks again! I'm trying to follow your instructions

Two things:
- I can't download Spybot S&D, the link doesn't work
- My PC, a Pentium II, uses Windows 98, and F8 doesn't work as I need. It shws in a DOS screen several options by number: 1 Normal, 2 can't remember, 3 error proof or something like that, 4 step by step, etc...

What do you suggest for this?

Thenks again...

Hi

Please print or copy these instructions because you are not able to access the Internet in SafeMode.

Make sure you are set to show hidden files and folders:
A. On the Tools menu in Windows Explorer, click Folder Options.
B. Click the View tab.
C. Under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders.
D. Uncheck Hide extensions for known filetypes and Hide protected operating system files.
How to see hidden files in Windows

REBOOT into SafeMode by tapping F8 key repeatedly at bootup: Starting your computer in Safe mode

Run HijackThis!, press Scan, and put a check mark next to all these:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.bettersearch.biz/

F1 - win.ini: run=C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SERVICES\WMPLAYER.EXE

O2 - BHO: HBO Class - {5321E378-FFAD-4999-8C62-03CA8155F0B3} - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\services\2.01.00.dll

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [xpsystem] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SERVICES\WMPLAYER.EXE
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Tsa2] C:\ARCHIVOS DE PROGRAMA\COMMON FILES\TSA\TSM2.EXE
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [xpsystem] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SERVICES\WMPLAYER.EXE

Close all other windows and browsers, and press the Fix Checked button.

Search for these files and delete them if found:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SERVICES\WMPLAYER.EXE <-- this file, only this file in this folder !!!
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\services\2.01.00.dll <-- this file

Delete these folders:
C:\ARCHIVOS DE PROGRAMA\COMMON FILES\TSA\ <-- this folder

Empty the recycle bin.

REBOOT normally.

Run HijackThis! again and post a new log please.

Where did you get this one ?????
Did you install SpywareBlaster ?

Run HijackThis!, press Scan, and put a check mark next to all these:

O16 - DPF: v3cab - http://searchmiracle.com/cab/2.cab

Close all other windows and browsers, and press the Fix Checked button.

Install and use an alternative browser: http://www.mozilla.org/ Install FireFox and set it as the default browser.

! This is very important !: Update your outdated Internet Explorer browser. Doing this will make your computer more secure. Please visit Windows Update (follow this link: http://www.windowsupdate.com) to update your browser. Follow the instructions on the screen. You may have to visit more then once Windows Update to install all updates.
Not updating Internet Explorer will leave your computer vulnerable to malware and attacks.

After the installation of the last update make sure you REBOOT the computer, run HijackThis again and post a new log please.

Everyday is virus day. Do you know where your recovery CDs are ?
Did you create them yet ?

cryo,

I did it, but now that line does not appear. I don't understand, but I'll do what you suggest. My PC was a former workplace PC, 2 years ago, and I've just got the internet service - before that, I was working offline only.

I'll check the link to update, and send the reults later. I don't wanna bother you anymore today, I guess is too late for you. Thanks for all! I will contact you tomorrow, with all my software updated first...

Thanks again

REBOOT into SafeMode by tapping F8 key repeatedly at bootup: Starting your computer in Safe mode

Run HijackThis!, press Scan, and put a check mark next to all these:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [¢‰¸ï0 4Ă4}¤Áœ5]C:\Archivos de programa\ISTsvc\istsvc.exe] C:\UEQYPK.EXE

Close all other windows and browsers, and press the Fix Checked button.

Search for these files and delete them if found:
C:\UEQYPK.EXE <-- this file

Delete these folders:
C:\Archivos de programa\ISTsvc\ <-- this folder

REBOOT normally.

Run HijackThis! again and post a new log please.

Oh, by the way, the option to see hidden files in Windows Explorer is ok...
