What Size Enclosure

i have a 40 gb hard drive from a compaq presario notebook (model m2105us). i want to get an enclosure for it to use it externally. what size enclosure should i get? 1.8? 2.5? 3.5? 5.25? Thanks.

The enclosure you can make to fit, more important is that wires are propperly connected.

Could you please post the model of the drive. It is probably going to be a 2.5" HD, but lets make sure.

it is a seagate 40 gb internal laptop hard drive. model number is st94019a. any info is greatly appreciated. thanks

Something like this would allow you to use it via a USB port. You could also use a 44pin to 40pin adapter to install it inside of a desktop computer.

That or the adapter to plug it into the Primary EIDE bus on your desktop.

The 2 critical things are:

1) the size (2.5")
2) the interface (IDE - also known as PATA or EIDE)
