Hey all:

On a HP dv5000, I can view DVDs, and listen to music on the hard drive using Windows Media Player, but cannot listen to a CD using Windows Media Player. I get a message that says there is no disk. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Right click on the drive in My Computer, select Properties. Then check each tab to ensure that the CD function is enabled. (My Toshiba does this occasionally).

If that doesn't work, go into Device Manager (Start...Run...type in "devmgmt.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter) and "Uninstall" the device. Then reboot and let Windows recognize and install it.
