hey.. im using a windows XP pro, service pack 2.. dell latitude d505..

yesterday i installed the new internet explorer, and ever since, i've been getting a msg that says "the file or directory c:\mft is corrupt. plz run chkdsk".. so i ran checkdisc, but my pc kept on restarting, and every time it would restart, it would run checkdisc again..

also, every time i want to log in to my account, this box appears with the title "limited virutal memory": "your system has no paging file or your paging file is too small."... so they ask me to fix it in control panel, system, advanced, performance, settings, advanced, change, custom size.... but the initial and max values are already set as 768 and 1536 MB respectively.. but it still says that the currently allocated memory is ZERO MB..

normally, id system restore... but that isnt working.. it wont go past the last page, and every time i press next, the dialogue box appears, saying "the file or directory bla bla"

what should i do???
thanks,
ghady

remove it completely, set NONE, reboot, let chkdsk run and when you boot back in "let windows set..." and it should be fine
