I'm having problems with some spyware of some sort as detailed in my other thread: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/72921/am-i-infected-with-spyware/

AVG/e-wido couldn't find it and I just formatted my harddrive and re-installed XP, but I'm still getting it. Can anyone help me?

You must get the SP's and critical updates
==============
You have no active AntiVirus!

Get the free AVG 7 install it, check for updates and run a full scan

AVG 7 - http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/

I DO have AVG/e-wido installed. They couldn't find anything.

How do I get the SP's and critical updates?

Will it be safe to use my computer again after I get the SP's and critical updates and kill messenger?

The AVG I posted is the antivirus not the anti spyware - and what you have is old

Without the SP's you will get infected again

I just installed that AVG and it found nothing. I just installed SP2 and disabled messenger using that link you provided. However, I'm still getting the messages.

You do not have SP2

Platform: Windows XP (WinNT 5.01.2600)

Get at least SP1
