"safely Remove Hardware" Button

i built the computer in my sig. loaded XP (new to XP, had 98) there a button that tells me i can safely remove hardware. i am pretty sure it is reffering to my hard drive. why is it there and how can i get rid of it ? or should i even try to get rid of it ?

Actually, The Safley Remove Hard ware button is there to safley remove external devices such as jump drives or cam corders. it completely removes it so that no file is corupted you may have a printer/scanner/jump drive pluged in. To remove these you would click on "Safley Remove Harware" then select the correct device and selecet STOP then you wait for the promt and the nyou may safley remove the device

To hide the icon follow these instructions
Start->Settings->Start Menu and Taskbar->Custimize->Find the icon and select always hide
