This is the third time that this has happened so I'm in need of some help.

It always happens when I'm scanning my laptop with AVG or SAS. I would get the blue screen of death saying there's a bad sector and it has something to do with the kernel fault checker data or something like that but Windows fixed it. So then I try the chkdsk /f thing and reboot again so I think everything is fixed. The error doesn't happen consecutive times but enough to know there's a problem.

Any help please?

Please check this out.
Do you have AVG Anti virus or Anti spyware?
First do an online scan with Ewido

In order to start cleaning your computer download and install

1) CCleaner
2) Spybot S & D
3) Adaware SE

Update all programs and run them. With CCleaner you should also go to the tab Problems and tick anything to do with the register. After the run you are asked to make a backup this will be as a default installed in "My Documents "

Run these all and post the reports here. Attention do not run these programs simeltaneously

Be very, very careful with any custom settings in CCleaner. It's very powerful and can hose your system in a heartbeat.

At a minimum, back up your registry before using it with custom settings (I've hosed my system by not following this advice).

My eye problems have lessened and I'm able to post/respond without too much difficulty. (05 Sep 2017)
FYI - I am completely blind in the right eye and ~30% blind in the left eye.

If the eye problems come on suddenly, I may not be able to respond.
If that's the case and help is needed, please PM a staff member for assistance.

Excactly that is why the backup is automaticly generated

My version doesn't backup automatically and I'm unable to find anything in it to "backup" (although there is a "save to text file" option in one of the screens).

Where is the backup located? And how do you restore it in the event of disaster?

Go to here and download and update. Gpo under advanced and tick "ask whether register should be backedup ") or something similar i'm freely translating from Dutch)After that If you tick the problems button on the leftside and select anytyhing to do with the register it will autromaticly ask you if you want to make a backup which as a default will be stored in the "MyDocuments "folder. If a disaster occurs you simply double click this file and theregister will restore itself

Doh! I completely missed that! (Let's blame it on my eye problems!).

Thanks for letting me know!

I have already updated and ran all of the programs that you've listed but none of them are detecting it. How should I go about removing it?

I tried Autorun but I can't find anything relating to Kernel Fault Check or ntvbm.exe but I do see the sytemroot of Kernel Fault Check when I run msconfig and HiJackThis. So do I remove it using HJT?

Have you looked for the BSOD information and in your Event Viewer as PapaKid asked you to? If so, what were the results?

Since it happens with AVG and SAS - I'd suspect that there's a conflict between the two of them. Try disabling one or the other and scanning - does this fix the problem?

Try uninstalling them, then install the latest version from the manufacturer's website - does that help the problem?
