When I try to defrag my harddrive (c:) is says that defrag has determined that the execute of chkdsk is planned on the volume c:

run chkdsk /f.

But when I try to run chkdsk it says:

Can't run chkdsk /f because the volume is used by an other process. Do you want to have this volume checked as soon the computer has reboot next time? Y/N?

If I say yes, it never runs chkdsk.

I have tried to run chkdsk in safe mode and also defrag but still it doesn't work.

Because I have a dutch version of Windows XP Home Edition I have to translate all to English and hope I done right!!

Please help me out!

Try this command at the command prompt: "chkntfs /D" (without the quotes)

Then, try this fix (not specifically for your problem, but it may help): http://www.pcreview.co.uk/forums/thread-72388.php
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
